I like to draw on a range of approaches to help you and I highly value a good therapeutic relationship together.
I believe my speciality is in making sense of people and formulating their struggle. This also helps to find ways forward. I can help by increasing your self-awareness, your understanding and of yourself and by guiding you towards positive behaviour choices.

I became a therapist because I am passionate about people and improving as well as enhancing mental wellbeing. I understand that life can be a challenge and at times it may be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I want to assure you that you do not have to go through life’s struggles by yourself. I am here for you and I am here with you. With your permission, I would like to come besides you and help you explore and discover events, thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour and together support you to make changes.

There are many reasons why people seek counselling such as anxiety, bereavement or relationships and it can be a combination of things that makes someone feel overwhelmed.
My approach to counselling is based around integrative therapy, which brings together different elements of several therapies. Integrative therapists believe that there is no single approach that can effectively treat each person in all situations and so combine the most appropriate and essential components according to client need.

I support adults navigating grief, loss, relationship struggles, carrying a lot emotionally, or facing moments when life feels too much.
Hi, I’m Lynda, a counsellor based in Rochester. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or carrying a grief that’s hard to explain. Maybe something has changed in your life, or perhaps it’s been building for a while. I offer a calm, steady space where you don’t have to hold it all alone. We’ll take things at your pace. Sometimes we may sit with what’s heavy; other times, we might begin to gently untangle it. Together, we’ll explore ways to cope and feel more grounded in who you are.

Sometimes it's about coping strategies and supporting my clients through a tough time or loss, want to change something about how they feel, think or behave, many look to free themselves of the past whilst some aren't sure exactly what they need, they simply feel the struggle to be happy in their life or relationships
Trauma and Relationships I am truly passionate about; my past and lack of understanding had me struggle (that's a good thing) and it lead me to understand my struggles, the routes and decisions to find peace and contentment in life and relationships. I found myself training and engaging so deeply in finding answers to help others it helped me and in doing so; I see and can proclaim the power of Psychotherapy in developing the mind, behaviour and attitudes to overcome life challanges. Use an accredited specialist in the area you have difficulty with, make sure you and they have compatibility.

I coach adults who outwardly appear to be functioning well day-to-day but, internally, feel weighed down, stuck or blocked by unhelpful thoughts, feelings or behaviours. Maybe you're dealing with a life transition, you're procrastinating, or your rumination is getting you down. The critical point is that you're not looking for a traditional 'medical' solution. You're not 'ill', you know that if you worked through some areas, you could perform better, reach your potential or just feel more content, resilient, or happy.

I would aim to develop a trusting non judgemental relationship with my clients so that they could feel able to really explore the issues that have brought them to counselling.
I offer a Counselling service to individuals, young people and families who may be facing personal difficulties and challenges. We all experience painful events and losses at various times in our lives and Counselling creates a safe containing space for clients to explore and process their emotions on a range if issues that may be impacting on them negatively. This can help clients to identify their triggers which may be responsible for creating the emotional and or physical distress. It also helps develop some strategies for clients to have at their disposal to manage better the impacts of the distress being experienced.

Couples Counselling Counsellors
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
