I have worked in and specialised in addiction problems involving alcohol, drugs and gambling for 21 years. I am now solely in private practice but previously managed an addiction unit and devised the programme at a major London private hospital for 16 years, facilitating group and individual therapy and family groups. I have given lectures on substance abuse and problem gambling to professionals including GP's and Consultant Psychiatrists. I have worked at addiction treatment centres in the USA. It takes a great deal of courage to seek out help and support at difficult times in our lives. My therapy room is in my garden and is well ventilated and thoroughly sanitised between clients with my chairs spaced 2 metres apart in line with current government advice during the current pandemic to keep my clients safe. I work with families, couples and individuals (both adults and children). The focus of my work is to help people to feel more loved, connected, resilient and secure. I help clients to understand their relational patterns and unmet attachment needs that cause distress. Subsequently, we work towards shifting those patterns of hurtful conflict behaviours (e.g. patterns of attack-withdraw and blame-defend) into patterns of love, care and emotional safety.
