I know that sometimes taking the first step to seek help may seem like a huge task. Having a confidential space, free of judgement can help you. The thought that no one else can understand how it feels can be paralysing. The feeling that others will judge before helping you may lead you to think that there is no one trustworthy enough. I offer short and long-term therapy. A place to explore your thoughts and feelings and how they impact on their relationships. I am experienced in working with clients suffering with anxiety, depression, trauma, panic attacks, relationship difficulties, bereavement and issues with self-esteem.

Are you feeling stuck or has change suddenly been thrust on you? This could be due to a bereavement , work issues or a parenting concern. Equally it could be a relationship split, rift between family/friends, health issues, moving, loneliness or other issues. These events can lead to stress, anxiety and/or depression if ignored. Together, we will explore what is going on for you in the present as well as looking at how events and emotions in the past have influenced your feelings and your behaviour. This will allow you to adapt and make changes leading to greater self-awareness and improved decision-making.

I work with clients on a broad range of subjects including anxiety, depression, anger, grief , self-esteem issues.
There are times when life feels confusing and overwhelming. Perhaps a recent life event or specific issue, maybe experiences or memories from your past are affecting how you behave in the present in relationship to others and yourself. Talking to a counsellor offers you a space where you can explore your feelings. This can help you to notice the unhelpful or destructive patterns that accompany you in your life which can ultimately help you to gain a greater self-understanding and enable you to move forward in your life and relationships. With this there is an opportunity and possibility of change.

I have clinical experience in NHS and bereavement services, and I work with clients of all kinds in my private practice.
I offer confidential and creative psychotherapy to individuals and couples. I work worldwide using Zoom, and in-person in London, UK. My clients usually arrive to work through a difficulty – including anxiety and depression, situations with relationships and sex, issues with alcohol or drugs, loss , recent or historic abuse, betrayal, self-esteem, anger, or a sense of being directionless or stuck. I respect the urgency of the situation – the need to find a way through – and the need for that way to be sustainable and authentic to who you are.

It takes a great deal of courage to seek out help and support at difficult times in our lives. If you’re here reading this and wondering if you might benefit from therapy, then you’ve already taken a huge step. Perhaps you’re here because you’ve recently experienced a bereavement , breakdown of a relationship or illness. Or maybe you would like a space to explore patterns of behaviour and ways of being in the world that you realise no longer serve you. I believe we all have the capacity to flourish and that therapy can offer an opportunity to open up new ways of being in the world and connecting with ourselves and those around us.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
