How do you prioritise self care when it doesn’t even make it onto the list most days? How do you retain your relationships and emotional connections with the people you love, when you can’t bring yourself to answer the phone for millionth time that day? I’m not a business coach. I’m a Psychotherapist in business, who has done the 4 years of weekly therapy, returns to therapy when I need to screw my head back on, in a world that continues to be organised chaos. People like us don’t go to therapy because we just don’t have the time. So flexibility, patience and straight talking therapists, like me, are necessary, for people like us.

I work with all issues, with a special interest in divorce, anxiety, and PTSD.
Are you feeling stuck about the past? Perhaps the present is a source of stress? Or maybe you have a general feeling of uncertainty about the future? I am an empathic and non-judgemental therapist with the benefit of a practical and solution-focused mind. I can help you identify and meet your missing emotional needs so that you can heal and stay mentally balanced; moving you on from states such as stress, anxiety, depression, anger, or addiction. This is a modern therapy with the added advantage of an optional guided imagery at the end of each session, as an extra 'boost' for feeling emotionally calm and in control again.

Hello, I'm Cara, I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, offering face to face and online therapy in West London. I work with individuals and couples, paying close attention to the meaning of what you bring to therapy and offering interpretation, insight, or a new healing experience. I believe that we are not defined forever by our past or our current problems. Instead, we can talk with a sensitive and experienced therapist, understand where we are and where we want to get to, and rewrite our story. I look forward to hearing from you!

Being a later in life diagnosed Autistic/ADHD counsellor, I offer genuine empathy & understanding if you're overwhelmed, feel isolated or struggling with life - I've been there too. Are you feeling misunderstood, lost or stuck? Like you don't fit in & nobody really "gets you?" Burntout? Full of anxiety? Struggling with emotional dysregulation, having relationship difficulties, problems with intimacy/sex, or debilitated by PMDD or Menopause? Maybe recently diagnosed & left thinking "now what?" During our sessions, change is absolutely possible. I have experience of Autism/ADHD from both sides of the fence: professional & personal.

I help strong, capable, and dependable individuals - the ones everyone relies on - who carry their own needs and everyone else’s on their shoulders. From the outside they appear resilient and in control, but inside they are often exhausted. I offer a space where they no longer have to “handle it” alone.

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
