Life can feel overwhelming, especially when anxiety, overthinking or emotional exhaustion start to take over. You may be coping on the outside while feeling stuck or disconnected inside. Sometimes the hardest part isn’t what happened, but carrying it alone for too long. Many people come to therapy feeling tired of being strong, confused by their emotions, or disconnected from themselves. I offer a quiet, thoughtful space to slow down and gently explore what’s beneath the surface—without pressure, labels or judgement...

Hi and welcome to my profile! I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with the BABCP. We can all experience difficult times in our lives that we may require help and support with.  When we experience distress we can often have negative feelings and thoughts which can influence how we react to a certain situation. We can often find ourselves stuck in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts and behaviours that can be hard to break.  CBT works on a 'here and now' basis, exploring your current difficulties and give you effective coping strategies to be able to make changes in your life and move forwards.

I work with a range of other issues, including: Relationship troubles, difficult childhood experiences, Sleep problems, Grief, self-esteem, and single parenting.
Transactional Analysis (TA) examines how we think, feel, and behave based on our past experiences. It helps us understand ourselves, others, and the world around us. TA gets to the root of the problem rather than just dealing with the symptoms.

You’re always on. Overthinking, second-guessing, feeling sick with worry — and somehow still getting things done. People might not even realise how much you’re struggling beneath the surface. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before, but it didn’t go deep enough, or didn’t quite fit. You’re looking for something that actually works — not just to cope, but to feel calmer, freer, more like yourself. Whether it's panic, OCD, phobias, perfectionism, high functioning or general anxiety or burnout, you're ready to stop just surviving and start living.

We will work together to decide the areas in your life that are important to you, and I will help you develop skills in managing difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions.

I'm Tom, a psychotherapist offering a combination that most therapists don't - CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for sleep problems, alongside EMDR, which helps people work through the anxiety, stress, or trauma that's often underneath poor sleep, low mood, and negative or limiting beliefs.
I have 10 years experience helping adults experiencing insomnia and sleep difficulties, nightmares, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low self-esteem, PTSD and trauma. Whether sleep is the main problem, or something you've noticed alongside anxiety or low mood, we'll figure out together what's keeping you stuck and help you achieve lasting change.

Clients who I work with are adults feeling lost, navigating life transitions, or seeking healing from past pain, including those experiencing identity loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, or domestic abuse. Reach out when old coping mechanisms stop working or emotional pain affects daily life, seeking relief, clarity, and non-judgmental support. Using a tailored integrative approach. Combining modalities like person-centered, CBT, DBT, somatic, and psychodynamic therapy I help them move forward by connecting mind, body, and emotions. Together, we develop practical tools, process past hurt, build resilience, and restore a true self.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
