Hi, I’m Debbie. I don’t yet know why you need my help. Maybe you suffer from anxiety, lack of confidence, self-doubt, a debilitating phobia, panic attacks, PTSD or Trauma. Maybe you can't quite put your finger on it but just know you want to feel different and better. More whole? Be more part of life rather than an observer? Less lonely? No longer held back? Perhaps you've tried many times to make permanent changes and haven't yet succeeded.

It can be difficult to understand how and why we feel certain emotions as well as how we behave. It can feel lonely when we don’t know what it is we need or want. I am friendly, honest, empathetic and passionate about supporting others. I have worked with clients dealing with a range of challenges, such as trauma, abuse, grief & loss, sexual violence, sexuality and victims of crime.

It seems that just being ourselves in the world has never been this challenging. We are often considered by those closest to us too much, yet never enough. Our commitments are many and we may never find the right time to do all that is demanded of us. This could lead us to feeling low or demotivated and struggling to understand ourselves and what is wrong. We may feel we are not truly having the life we want, living to our full potential or even finding the love we have been seeking for so long. So it might be good to talk to someone about these feelings of belonging, loneliness or isolation.

Therapy provides a place in which to safely explore thoughts and feelings free from the fear of judgement. My aim, as a therapist, is to empower my clients to live their lives as they wish, free from mental tension. I believe that the emotionally wounded deserve acceptance and compassion. I recognise that sometimes there are dark days. I integrate Person-Centred and Psychodynamic theories into my counselling.

It can take a huge amount of courage to reach out and ask for help and often people can feel uncertain about how asking for help will be received or worry about not being believed or taken seriously. I aim to listen to your concerns non-judgementally and with compassion to collaboratively identify areas that you wish to work on. Together, we would explore your goals, consider how parts of your life may be impacting on you and identify how to move forward in a way that feels meaningful and makes sense to you. My work is influenced by a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT, ACT and CFT.

For you? Maybe you need a space to understand how past experiences may be influencing your present; to think about current changes or difficulties (e.g. relationship breakdown, loss and bereavement, etc); thinking about your sexuality; feel burnt out; experiencing anxiety or depression. Art therapy isn't just about making art. It is a non-judgmental, confidential space to discuss and express whatever it is on your mind. For your child? I can help your child with a range of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, uncertainty of life changes (e.g. divorce); and children who are Neurodiverse.
