Whatever your reasons for seeking therapy, I believe it is paramount for you to feel safe, heard and understood. You may know what you need or you may be more uncertain. No matter, it is your unique perspective and experience which is important. Having the space to explore this, free of judgement, can build self-awareness and bring clarity.

You thought things would feel easier by the time you reached this age.
Maybe life wasn't supposed to be this hard. You figured you'd feel more settled, more confident, more in control. But instead, something just feels… off. You're tired. Anxious. Like you're stuck, and no matter what you do, it's hard to move forward.
You know you want more from life, you know you're capable of more, but it's hard to explain. You might feel disconnected from yourself or the people around you. Maybe your relationships are struggling, or you just don’t feel like yourself anymore.
You're not alone. I'm here for you if you decide to reach out.

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and informed by EFT, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, and somatic approaches.
People often come to me when they feel stuck in patterns —especially in relationships, emotions, or how they cope with life. You might look as if you’re managing on the outside, but inside feel anxious, low, overwhelmed, or disconnected.
Many people I work with are living with the impact of trauma, struggling with relationship difficulties, or feeling that life has lost meaning or direction,
I have worked in mental health since the late 1990s, initially as a registered mental health nurse, and later as a psychotherapist.
Therapy helps you understand these patterns, so you can start changing how you relate to yourself and others.

During sessions, I may invite you to try some somatic practices alongside talk therapy, which many clients find helpful as part of the therapy experience, and have then made part of their lifestyle outside of therapy as a way to enrich their well-being.
How are you doing? Maybe you've found yourself searching therapy options because life is feeling hard at the moment? Perhaps your energy levels, health, work and relationships are being negatively impacted? Or perhaps, there's nothing particularly 'wrong' with how things are going for you, yet you feel uninspired and in a bit of a rut. Whatever circumstances have brought you here, I'm happy to support you on your journey.
As an Integrative therapist based in Reading, I offer online therapy sessions across the UK and internationally working with clients to overcome issues which limit them and help them find resolution.

Hi there! I am Amber, the Director of Healthy Mind Psychology. We aim to be a different type of practice. Our focus includes work with those people trying to cope with all the stresses and strains of unprecedented times upon us. But many struggle with issues outside of the normal narrative of mental health, or physical health too. Our practice aims to explain the stress response (whether that be from overdue bills, a critical family system, a harsh workplace, current or previous traumas, or a host of other things!) and the science behind how the mind/body interact to create physical symptoms, emotional distress, or bad habits!

I am known as both Miranda and Millie - you are welcome to call me by either name.
My work is rooted in deep respect for each person’s innate wisdom and capacity for change under the right conditions.
I offer a calm, steady environment where clients feel safe enough to explore the parts of themselves they may have hidden, silenced, or left misunderstood.
Rather than “fixing,” I walk alongside — helping untangle patterns, soften self-judgment, and build emotional resilience. Through curiosity, honesty and compassion, I support clients in reconnecting with their own clarity, strength, and sense of possibility.

I work with people who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained or disconnected from themselves. You might be neurodivergent and tired of masking, navigating ADHD, or living with chronic illness and its impact on identity and energy. I also support those exploring racial identity, including mixed-race experiences, or moving through life transitions, relationship difficulties, or unresolved past experiences. Together, we work gently at your pace to make sense of what you’re feeling and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
