I believe that at times, we all struggle with life difficulties and need someone who understand and sees us. There can be huge barriers to fairness in our society and this, along with the pressures of relationships, social media, work and expectations of others, can reduce our ability to cope alone. I believe that counselling can play a key role in helping us navigate these difficulties and face the future with a little more optimism.

Sometimes it can all feel like too much. When you're struggling to keep up with day to day pressures, you can wake up feeling anxious about the day, before it has even started. You can feel angry and frustrated at those around you, sometimes for the most insignificant things. You can stay awake at night replaying everything you feel you've ever done wrong and wondering when you'll ever feel at peace again. It doesn't seem to make sense, and you feel exhausted and frazzled just thinking about it. Well, I'm here to listen and I'd like to be able to give you the space to piece this all together.

I am a licensed, registered professional Counsellor and have been practicing online since the beginning of lockdown. Previous to that I worked with clients face to face. Having worked with clients who have various different issues including relationship problems, low self esteem, trouble in dealing with emotions, fear of rejection, and more. I have the experience in lots of different issues but realise that everyone is an individual and deals with things in different ways so there is no 'one size fits all' . You are the expert on you, so I shall sit with you and support you in your quest to find a solution.

Hello and welcome to my profile. I am an experienced empathic counsellor based in Reading. I work for a youth charity (11-25yrs) called Time To Talk West Berkshire based in Newbury. At the heart of therapy lies collaboration and empathy. This is important for building trust and working through issues. Life is full of challenges and sometimes we need someone to turn to when we are stuck. It can be helpful to talk to someone who isn’t a family or friend.

My Clients over the last 15 years have ranged from having simple symptoms ( i.e. sleep disturbances, anxiety about interviews or social anxiety ) to severe symptoms (i.e. severe depression, insomnia, PTSD, OCD, Borderline Personality or sexual abuse). My clients are looking for tools that will help them reduce or eliminate those symptoms but they are also wanting to develop long term functional habits that will help them lead a healthier life. Most of my clients are functional but they are struggling with emotional issues in their relationships with addictions, fears, self-esteem, abuse. Do call and discuss your concerns.

During these uncertain times of COVID-19, there is one constant that we can draw upon and that is Mother Nature - our original context and fundamental place of belonging. Having therapy or mindfulness sessions outside in nature has a calming influence on our nervous system and offers an opportunity to go back to our roots and escape from the current stresses and being indoors. Whether being with the horses or walking outside in the local countryside, we give ourselves the space to safely explore our experiences of life, build awareness in the present moment and find choice and renewed purpose in our life.

Clients come with diverse problems and needs. What matters to my clients, matters to me. Generally, I have found problems which manifest in current life relationships (romantic, family, work, with services or with ourself) but which originate in our past experiences are those which can be worked on helpfully using the ways I work. A measure of openness to explore other perspectives and to really think about describing issues is very important as is a commitment to think outside sessions about things that may be the causes of distress.

Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence. Finding a teen therapist in Reading and addressing a disorder early on can help ensure the best possible outcome.
