Does life feel a bit unmanageable at the moment? Are you using unhealthy coping strategies to manage stress, such as binge-eating, too much alcohol or substance use and ‘addictive’ behaviours? As a warm, down-to-earth counsellor, I can support you to feel more balanced, boost your self-esteem, and explore ways to cope more easily with challenges and transitions (such as trauma, bereavement, infertility or other types of loss). Counselling with me is holistic and flexible, and can include mindfulness and creativity. Whether in the barn or out in nature, together we can find positive ways to improve your wellbeing.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk openly about what’s happening in your life, at a pace that feels right for you. Our 50-minute sessions are your time — a dedicated space where whatever feels important to you will be met with care, curiosity, and respect. People often seek therapy when life feels overwhelming, confusing, or stuck. You might be experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, or simply a sense that things aren’t how you want them to be. As an integrative psychotherapist in training I adapt my methods depending on what feels most helpful.

You show up. You keep managing. But privately, you wonder how much longer you can keep going like this. I work with adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s who are holding it together on the outside while running low on the inside. Burnout that crept up slowly. Work stress that follows you home. Relationship patterns that repeat no matter how much you try to change them. I also work with people who have recently discovered or beginning to suspect that they may be autistic, ADHD or AuDHD or who simply feel like they're performing a version of themselves rather than bringing their true selves.

I am a play and creative arts therapist, with additional training in sandplay therapy. I work with children aged 4-14 years and increasingly with children who are aged 8+. Play is a developmentally appropriate therapy for children. Older children often talk more about what is going on for them too and creative arts therapy (such as sandplay and art) helps deepen self-awareness and self-expression. I offer a safe, gentle and sensitive space for children and young people to be accepted however they are. I have experience in working with a range of presenting issues and difficulties and work collaboratively with parents.

You may feel overwhelmed, unseen, or unsure how to make sense of your identity, past or present. Perhaps you’re LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, or carrying trauma. Maybe early experiences shaped how you see yourself, and you’re ready for that to change. You want someone who understands without judgment. You’re hoping to unmask, understand and share your emotions, heal old wounds, and grow into a steadier sense of who you are and what you want. Most of all, you’re longing for a safe, warm space where you can finally feel understood and supported.

If you are a student, please ask about concessions. I work from the premise that we don’t have “bad parts,” but we can become unbalanced, and that imbalance can make life feel difficult. By remaining curious, we can explore every part of you. I work with both individuals and couples, helping you navigate recurring patterns and the stuck or hard-to-talk-about places. Individuals: £45, Couples: £60. Ask about concessions.

Sometimes difficulties can have a major impact on our well-being, relationships or work. Maybe friends and family can offer some support but we may also choose to see a qualified and experienced practitioner, who can provide a safe space in which to work with whatever is going on for us. I have a wide range of experience, including working in the NHS, at university as Associate Lecturer (14 years) and in a GP practice as a Lead Therapist and Supervisor, delivering Relational Integrative Therapy. I draw on Psychodynamic and Person-Centred approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), relational CBT and CFT (Compassion-Focussed Therapy).

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
