Does life feel a bit unmanageable at the moment? Are you using unhealthy coping strategies to manage stress, such as binge-eating, too much alcohol or substance use and ‘addictive’ behaviours? As a warm, down-to-earth counsellor, I can support you to feel more balanced, boost your self-esteem, and explore ways to cope more easily with challenges and transitions (such as trauma, bereavement, infertility or other types of loss). Counselling with me is holistic and flexible, and can include mindfulness and creativity. Whether in the barn or out in nature, together we can find positive ways to improve your wellbeing.

Accredited, experienced, integrative and EMDR therapist with several years of working with a variety of issues including addiction, abuse, trauma, anxiety, and identity. You might want to focus on behaviour change, or exploration of the past and old stuck beliefs to try to make sense of what is happening in your life now. Sometimes, people just need a space to talk, and to be heard. EMDR is a powerful and well-evidenced way to work with past trauma, finally freeing ourselves from what is no longer helpful. This can be done alongside time spent reflecting on the past or on current troubling situations and behaviours.

If you have experienced trauma as a result of your past and you find that is affecting you and your relationships in the present, I can help you gently explore these difficulties and support you to make the changes you need to make. Through childhood experiences and life events we try to fit into the world we live in. From very early on we tend to adapt ourselves to meet the needs of others, to be loved, liked and accepted. We twist and manage ourselves into expected ways of being and mask what is really going on for us. In doing this we lose the sense of who we are before we ever know.

I’m a qualified counsellor, group therapy facilitator and complementary health practitioner, with over 30 years of experience supporting people through life’s ups and downs. I trained in Counselling and Addiction at the University of Bath, and I bring not only my professional knowledge but also a wealth of real-life experience to my sessions. Sometimes life just feels too heavy. We can find ourselves worrying, feeling stuck, or battling with fears we don’t quite understand. In those moments, talking to someone outside of our usual circle can be a real gift—someone who will truly listen without judgement. That’s where I can help.

If you are reading this you know its time for help, you maybe in that moment of surrender where you finally accept one profound truth: The pain of staying the same outweighs the fear of changing. You have tried to manage the unmanageable, using alcohol or substances as a highly effective anaesthetic catching up with you. You know now that the problem isn't the substance itself; the substance was just a solution a maladaptive one to a deeper pre-existing internal issue. Your searching for peace and serenity and to feel a sense of well being with life on a journey to happiness.

Are you fed up of feeling fed up? Stuck in cycles you don’t fully understand but can’t seem to change? Often, that’s a powerful starting point for meaningful change. Together, we can gently explore the roots of these patterns, making sense of how they began and how they continue, so you can respond with greater awareness and choice. I offer a steady, down-to-earth space where you can say what’s really going on. I’ll listen and I’ll hopefully help you look at things from a different angle so change becomes possible.

I am currently offering in person, online video and telephone counselling by appointment. If you are currently looking for a counsellor it may well be that you have reached a point of change. You can no longer put up with the current situation you feel you are in. You may be suffering anxious feelings or low mood, or be struggling with anger and frustration, or any number of other concerns. These are feelings that we all experience from time to time but they can be limiting and have an effect on our general happiness and satisfaction with life.

Feeling "too much" or fearing rejection shouldn't be a barrier to a fulfilling life. I am a trauma-informed therapist dedicated to helping Highly Sensitive People (HSP) and those navigating Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered. In our work together, we’ll move beyond "just talking" to understand how your unique nervous system processes the world. Whether you’re struggling with the crushing weight of perceived criticism or the exhaustion of sensory overload, I provide a compassionate, neuro-affirming space where your sensitivity is viewed as a strength, not a flaw.

Hi, I am Susie, a friendly psychotherapist who has experience of working with a diverse range of clients within a confidential environment. For me, the heart of counselling is a good relationship between client and counsellor. This helps to create a safe and respectful setting for exploration, reflection and understanding of what is important to you. As we are all individual and unique, people will naturally need different things from counselling. I use an integrative, person-centred approach which means that we can work together in a way which best suits you, drawing from different techniques which will support you.

Hello! I’m Tristan, a qualified male counsellor with a passion for walking beside others through life’s challenges and helping them discover new perspectives along the way. Counselling helped me through some unexpected and difficult changes in my own life, so I understand that life can be tough, and often doesn’t go to plan. I also believe there is strength and beauty in the gift of life. After later training as a counsellor and working in charities and structured organisations, I’ve created my own counselling space where people can feel safe to be fully themselves, without judgement.

Maybe a little voice inside has been telling you for a while that things are not ok...the word " therapy" keeps popping up....acknowledging it takes courage and wisdom. It might be a current crisis or on-going emotional difficulties stopping you from enjoying life. Therapy is a unique experience which can be transformative, and in which you can safely access the true essence of yourself. It is a meaningful journey on many levels. Many of life's challenges which are seen as "normal "by society actually involve trauma. These wounds left unattended can lead to anxiety, low self-esteem, addictions, depression, shame, anger.

Alcohol Use Counsellors
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
