Struggling with anxiety, low mood, or life changes?
I use an integrative approach, blending techniques to meet your specific needs. I don’t claim to have all the answers; my role is to walk alongside you with empathy, curiosity and the occasional touch of humour. I’ll offer guidance, and gently challenge you, when needed, but ultimately, this is your journey.

I work with people facing a range of life challenges, with a particular interest in supporting those going through life transitions. This may include career changes or self-employment, relationship and family changes, becoming a parent (matrescence), receiving a diagnosis (including neurodiversity), balancing work-family responsibilities, or coping with loss. I have lived experience of many of these things. These moments can raise deeper questions about identity, relationships and direction in life. Therapy offers a space to reflect, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and find a way forward with a greater sense of ease.

You may be wrestling with anxiety, low mood, bereavement, trauma or relationship difficulties — and unsure why the same patterns keep repeating, or why things feel harder than they used to.
I tailor the therapy to you. My work is integrative — drawing on Transactional Analysis, CBT and trauma-informed practice — so we work with what fits you, not a fixed script. Together we build self-awareness and practical tools for lasting change. I have a particular focus on neurodivergent adults, including autistic and ADHD clients.

I have helped many people, both in private practice and the NHS, overcome problems including those related to anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, relationships, stress, low self-esteem, loss, life transitions, or medically unexplained symptoms.
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy draws on the concepts of psychoanalysis to help you understand and resolve your problems by increasing awareness of how your past can influence relationships and experiences in the present. It differs from other therapies and counselling in aiming for deep seated change in personality and emotional development.

I support adults experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
Many people come to therapy during times of change or emotional uncertainty—relationship difficulties, loss or bereavement, career transitions, or questions around identity. These experiences can feel heavy, especially when you’ve been carrying them alone. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as a mental health nurse in Hong Kong, supporting people through complex emotional challenges. I offer therapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and I’m mindful of cultural and family dynamics. I provide a neutral, compassionate space to help you gain clarity, feel supported, and reconnect with your inner strengths.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
