I am an experienced psychotherapist with a strong track record helping patients within the NHS. I offer a safe, consistent setting in private practice to help patients make changes that are not as easily achieved in time-limited therapy. I practice psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy, which sees conscious difficulties in our lives as solutions to unconscious problems. It helps with common mental health problems, like anxiety and depression, including trauma, but allows for a deeper appreciation of our internal world to alleviate our everyday disquiet in profound and subtle ways, almost like a volume control being turned down.

People come for therapy for many different issues. A common theme is that people want to get a greater sense of themselves and understanding of what may have caused their issues and how they might grow past these challenges. Therapy can help you feel better about yourself and improve your mental health.

Many people I work with describe a deep sense of feeling misunderstood, overlooked, or different — sometimes for as long as they can remember. If this resonates with you, you may be wondering whether your experiences could be related to ADHD, autism, or trauma. Or you might already know these are part of your story and be trying to understand what that truly means for you. It can be painful to feel that the world doesn’t quite “get” you, to have so much happening inside, yet struggle to find spaces where you feel safe enough to be yourself. My role is to offer a space where you can feel safe, understood, and accepted, as you are.

I understand how emotional eating can take over—it was part of my own journey too. Training as a therapist helped me not only overcome these struggles, but also learn how to support others in finding freedom from them. I believe food isn’t the problem—it’s often a way of coping with deeper feelings. Together, we can explore the root causes in a safe and supportive space. I work integratively, using CBT, Person-Centred, and Psychodynamic approaches, adapting to your unique needs. Whether you want practical tools to manage urges or space to explore what’s driving them, we’ll move at your pace. You don’t have to go through this alone

I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist specialising in anxiety, depression, ADHD and couples therapy. In psychotherapy sessions I provide a confidential setting that encourages you to reflect on your journey. We will explore the feelings, emotions and impact significant events have had on the way you experience day-to-day life. And, do they allow themselves to smile, laugh and be happy?

You’re the one who keeps it together for everyone else, but inside, you’re anxious, overwhelmed, or just not feeling like yourself. You’ve been coping for a while, but now you’re ready for real change. Maybe you’re stuck in patterns that no longer serve you overthinking, people-pleasing, burnout, or low self-worth. Or you’re carrying past pain that still affects you today. You don’t want a quick fix. You want to understand what’s going on, feel more in control, and reconnect with who you really are. You’re ready to talk, even if it feels a bit scary. You want a space where you can be honest, feel heard, and start healing.

I work mainly from a Cognitive Behavioural Approach and also have trained and gained experience utilising hypnotherapy, person centred, transactional analysis, solution focused and NLP approaches. Initial experience working in the field of domestic abuse included working with complex co-existing issues. I have also gained experience with dependency issues and duel diagnosis. I volunteered with the Liverpool Hearing Voices Group for three years, this has allowed me to gain invaluable experience working with more challenging Mental Health and Emotional issues.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
