Hi, I'm a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, offering therapy to adults online across the UK and in St Helens, Merseyside. Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or exhausted from holding everything together. Some are living with anxiety, trauma, or self-criticism. Others are navigating the emotional impact of physical health conditions, chronic symptoms, or pain. My approach is calm, compassionate, and collaborative. I aim to create a space where you feel safe to talk openly, without pressure or judgement, and where change feels possible rather than overwhelming.

I am able to offer you face to face, online and telephone for most of the difficulties.
Hello! My name is Carmen and I am working as a private practitioner. I worked before in schools, drug and alcohol rehab and occupational health (EAP and assessments). I'll work with you in a way that will enable you to discover yourself, maybe the difficulty which probably causes you distress, increase your motivation and hopefully change your life in better. We can talk about what it is happening now but also we can address aspects from your past which are just on 'pause' at the minute but they 'creep' out whenever they want. Usually my sessions are based on your needs, purpose and action.

I offer sessions online, by telephone and in private practice ( in-person) offering a safe space.
Hi, I'm Sandra, a counsellor based in Warrington, Cheshire. Sometimes we need to let go of things that are on our minds but are afraid of the consequences therefore life feels outside of our control and the ability to cope seems not enough. You may need more support to help you rediscover your spirit and qualities by picking your way through what is going on in your life. I know the importance of feeling safe as I have lived life experiences in emotional situations so understanding the way you are feeling, and the thoughts you have will bring challenges but we can explore these feelings together as we build on our relationship.

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and I provide psychological therapy for adults facing challenges with emotional difficulties such as anxiety, grief, trauma related issues and low mood. We all experience low mood and anxiety at times in our lives. Sometimes this can feel difficult to manage and psychological therapy can help. An area of specialism is Clinical Health Psychology, helping people whose psychological difficulties relate to dealing with physical illness such as cancer. Some people I work with have a history of difficult experiences in childhood or traumatic experiences at any stage in life.

Hi. Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, stuck — or like you’ve lost yourself in patterns of putting everyone else first? You might look fine on the outside, but inside you’re exhausted, tangled, and carrying too much alone. I’m an experienced counsellor with 15 years’ practice. I offer a steady, compassionate space where you can slow things down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and understand what your emotions are trying to tell you — because feelings don’t just happen to us; they shape how we cope, choose, and relate.

I am a person centred counsellor and also have a qualification in cognitive behavioural therapy. I believe counselling is a journey of self-discovery and personal development that is a continual process both during and after therapy has taken place. Through counselling, a person will learn about themselves in a way they would never intend or maybe expect. As a counsellor I will be alongside you on your therapeutic journey and create a safe space that is respectful and non-biased to allow you to discover yourself and work through any issues that may be troubling you.

You've recognised the patterns, how narcissistic abuse shaped your sense of self, how your relationship repeats the same painful cycles, how you've adapted in ways that no longer serve you. You're not looking for crisis management or surface-level coping strategies. You want to understand the deeper mechanisms at play and do the work to change them. You're ready for a therapist who takes you seriously & works at the level of depth you're seeking.

I offer therapy sessions in-person and online via video.
I am interested in working with complex emotional and relational difficulties and trauma, supporting people to heal from the lasting impact of adverse experiences and to move towards recovery and fulfil their potential. I am also passionate about improving access to services for marginalised populations. Over time, my professional and personal journey has shaped how I view emotional distress. Rather than asking “what is wrong with you?”, I ask “what has happened to you?”. This shift allows me to see beyond presenting problems to the person behind the distress. It also enables me to bring kindness and compassion into my work.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
