Hello! My name is Carmen and I am working as a private practitioner. I worked before in schools, drug and alcohol rehab and occupational health (EAP and assessments). I'll work with you in a way that will enable you to discover yourself, maybe the difficulty which probably causes you distress, increase your motivation and hopefully change your life in better. We can talk about what it is happening now but also we can address aspects from your past which are just on 'pause' at the minute but they 'creep' out whenever they want. Usually my sessions are based on your needs, purpose and action.

Being a later in life diagnosed Autistic/combined ADHD counsellor, I feel I can offer genuine empathy & understanding if you're overwhelmed, feel isolated or struggling with life - I've been there too. Are you feeling misunderstood? Lost or stuck? Like you don't fit in & nobody really "gets you"? In burnout? Wondering whether you may be Autistic/ADHD? Or support someone who is? Feeling overwhelmed with the thoughts of the diagnosis process, or recently diagnosed & left thinking "now what?" During our sessions, change is absolutely possible; I have experience of Autism & ADHD from both sides of the fence; professional & personal.

Relationships are at the core of what it means to be human. If your relationship with your partner or your family is not working , then this can affect so many parts of your life. Perhaps you feel that you have never been happy in the relationship that you are in? Perhaps you or your partner have had an affair or have issues with jealousy? Maybe you are considering splitting up or leaving? Being part of an extended family can present its own problems. Being a Step Parent or Step Child can be very problematic. Parenting issues can cause major rifts in families and sometimes an experienced third party can offer a solution.

I conduct individual psychotherapy, help in personal crises and conduct parental consultations in divorce crises.
Dobrze wiem, jak to jest, kiedy problemy przygniatają i trudno uwierzyć, ze będzie lepiej. Czasami przywróceniu nadziei sprzyja zwykła szczera rozmowa i zobaczenie sytuacji z innej perspektywy. Swoja ofertę kieruje do Polaków, którzy żyją poza granicami kraju. Tę szczególną sytuacje rozumiem, bo sam jej doświadczam. I know, what it is like, when problems are overwhelming and it is difficult to hope, that it will get better. What helps to restore hope is sometimes simple and honest conversation and seeing a situation from a different perspective. Sometimes it takes time and an effort, commitment and work to feel better.

Maybe you're trying to hold everything together while feeling disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you’ve spent so long taking care of others that you’ve lost sight of your own needs. You may be struggling with low self-esteem, people-pleasing, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You're not alone, and don’t have to figure it out alone. My approach is culturally sensitive. I create a space where you can speak freely without judgment or the need to explain your background. I also integrate tools from CBT, compassion-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care to support your goals at your pace.

Hi, my name is Claire, I am passionate about helping people with a range of presenting issues such as low mood, anxiety, grief, neurodivergence, trauma bonds, narcissistic relationship recovery and whatever you wish to bring into the space. We work together on a journey which is unique, and I walk alongside you as you move towards a more authentic and peaceful place. Having a non judgemental space in which to talk means that you can clear those things which feel 'stuck' without a need to reciprocate that for someone else, fostering greater personal clarity and movement.

Divorce Counsellors

How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?

Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?

There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?

When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
