The approach I first trained in and like to use the most is an integrative model called the Relational approach. This approach incorporates both humanistic and psychodynamic elememts which means it retains the warmth of the humanistic models which focus on empathy and building trust, and the Freudian concepts of the unconcious mind and transference. I work best with clients who are willing to explore how they relate to people, by examining what is going on in our relationship during therapy. I really enjoy working with clients who have issues around relationships and attachment, and find this work both interesting and rewarding.

Hi I am Sadia, a Therapist, however, I am first and foremost a human being - something I really try to allow to come across during sessions. I know seeking support for your mental health can feel like a step into the unknown, so if you are looking for the right support tailored to your unique needs and to just make sense of things that are just perhaps not making sense right now, then get in touch. We can work to put your knowledge of yourself and what I know about CBT together, to find a way to take steps in the direction you would like your life to go in next.

I don't believe I have an ideal client. I just think anyone that has the courage to come to therapy and face up to the challenges they are facing is the kind of client I want to work with.

I embrace and believe as a Humanistic counsellor that all people have inherent worth and deserve respect and sensitivity. I hold faith that over time, we all have an innate tendency to move forward realizing our potential for growth, understanding and acceptance. I believe that we are all organically creative and highly individual and we all have the right to experience emotional challenges in our own way and in our own time-eventually resulting in psychological wellness and/or acceptance and my hope - inner peace.

Major life events or a stacking up of small life stresses can leave us feeling fatigued, anxious and overwhelmed. Are your worries overwhelming, your thoughts snowballing, can't relax or feel like you don't recognise yourself anymore? You may want to make small changes or you want to understand yourself and your past on a deeper level. I specialise in anxiety, psychosis, personality disorder and ADHD but the label or diagnosis does not matter, I work with your experience of these things. I also do assessments for Autism as part of a team.

Hi! My name is Sadie and it's very important to me that therapy is a collaborative process in which we both work together to ensure you feel heard, safe and have an open space for you to explore your difficulties and meet your goals in a way that feels manageable. My goal as your therapist is to make sense of what has brought you to treatment, to understand where you are stuck and for us together to think about what you need to feel able to move forward. Therapy is an active process where we work together as a team and I want to ensure we find a way to enable you to move closer towards living the life you want for yourself.

You may be wondering why you do some of the things you do, things that may be harmful to yourself or others, or that keep bringing you back to square one. Perhaps you feel lonely, even when you are with other people, or stuck in the process of making a difficult decision or transition. You may be struggling with depression or anxiety, or feel stressed and find it hard to relax. Whatever your reason for ending up at my page, your being here shows that you have, at the very least, a glimmer of hope that things could be better, and a sense that you need someone to help you on your journey.

I get it, life can get overwhelming sometimes. You feel unwell and don't know where to start. You can't put your finger on anything because everything seems like a lot right now: Family, relationships, self-esteem, worry, insecurities, work... nothing feels good anymore. You feel lost and sometimes don't really know what to do. You might struggle to enjoy the things you used to or simply have a good time with friends. Sometimes you might feel ridden by anxiety, worry and overthinking, which makes you question literally everything and you feel exhausted!

'It's ok not to be ok... Your issues, conflicts, feelings and emotions are always valid. Even if it seems like other people have experienced ‘worse’ or experienced the same and don’t feel affected by them. Even if what troubles you happened a long time ago, even if no one knows, your hurting is real and you deserve a space to talk about it. It isn’t desperate or needy or attention-seeking, it’s self-care and probably the bravest thing you’ll ever do...'

Reasons to seek out therapy are, much like ourselves, varied, nuanced and complex. A deeply empathic, attentive presence, warmth and trust for how you process things and what you decide to bring to our sessions, are at the heart of my practice. As a therapist, I provide a therapeutic relationship which, over time, creates a space in which deep healing can occur. I hope to help you see yourself and make meaning of your experience(s) in ways which were not available before. My work is therefore centred around attending to the whole person, with equal respect and worth for both content and process, both feeling and thinking.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
