Do you sometimes feel limited by words? Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) offers an alternative to talking therapies. As our bodies hold the unconscious aspects of ourselves, movement-based therapy can be particularly effective in addressing feelings held somatically in the body. Dance Movement Psychotherapists believe that changes in the body & movement patterns are reflected in the mind & thinking patterns and vice versa. DMP can help you feel more attuned to your body, support emotional regulation, reduce stress, improve confidence, and help to form a stronger sense of Self.

Many people who come to see me are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or stuck after difficult experiences. They may be struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, anger, or media-induced distress. Often they are looking for a safe, genuine space where they can speak openly and feel truly heard. Through counselling, they may hope to understand themselves more deeply, find relief from difficult feelings, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and self-compassion. I offer a supportive, collaborative space where this exploration can happen at a pace that feels right for them.

You don't need the 'right words'. As a dramatherapist, in addition to sitting and talking, I can offer creative techniques and materials to help you to share what's going on, gain new perspectives and make changes in your life. If you are feeling anxious, struggling with low mood or self-esteem, having difficulties at home/work/school, questioning your identity or asking questions that you would appreciate sharing in a non-judgemental space - I can help. I work in person in Brighton and online with adults and with children and young people (aged 5-18). Get in touch to discuss how I might be able to support you (or your child).

Hi. My name is Anna and I am a Humanistic counsellor. This means I work in a way that aims to see your world through your eyes and create a safe, non-judgemental space in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings. This may enable you to understand yourself better by building awareness of the way you relate to yourself and others in the world. In this way, the possibility for change and choice can become more apparent. I will work with you at your pace and encourage you to bring to sessions what you feel you need to explore. Whatever your reason for seeking counselling, my aim is to walk alongside you on your journey.

At different stages in our lives, we encounter difficulties that prevent us from fully enjoying life. It can be anything from anxiety and depression, to the loss of a person (through death or relationship breakdown), to deeply rooted emotional issues (such as low self-esteem or inability to form relationships). Other times, we are unable to fully explain what is troubling us - we just know that something is. Asking for help can be difficult - finding the right kind of help and support can be more challenging. With each person and difficulty being unique, I tailor my approach to suit each client's needs and communication style.

No matter what brings you to therapy, your experience matters. You may notice patterns repeating, intense emotions that don’t let up, or physical sensations that leave you on edge without a clear reason. Our brains and bodies often react long before we understand why, and therapy can help you make sense of these responses rather than feeling ruled by them.

Hello - I am a qualified counsellor offering calm, thoughtful support to adults and young people who feel emotionally stretched or worn down. You may be used to coping and carrying responsibility, yet privately feeling anxious, low, irritable or disconnected. Perhaps anger surfaces more quickly than you would like, or familiar relationship patterns leave you frustrated or hurt. You are not seeking surface-level reassurance — you want to understand what is happening beneath the surface and feel steadier in yourself.

What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
