I offer private counselling to children, young people and adults.
I am an integrative counsellor; psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and menopause specialist coach. My therapeutic practice is based largely on the relational approach, this means I place great emphasis on the relationship between you and I as it is our relationship which becomes the vehicle for your therapeutic journey. Each person is unique and I will draw on modalities that I feel will most suit you and the issues that you present to me. During our sessions I would like you to have as much autonomy as possible but I shall also give direction should you need it.

I have many years of experience, both personally and professionally, working with adults, young people and children through my job as a counsellor and previously as a learning mentor.
Do you struggle to overcome loss or grieve after a bereavement? Is worry, overthinking, anxiety or depression stopping you? Are you stuck in your life or relationship and need to find a way to move forward or do you seem to have lost sight of each other? Perhaps you struggle to find the motivation, or simply want to talk about anything your would to change or understand. Then why not give counselling, hypnotherapy or coaching with me a chance.

Life can be incredibly heavy, and sometimes the ways we’ve learned to cope just aren't enough anymore. Whether you are navigating the suffocating fog of depression, the constant hum of anxiety, or the complex layers of identity and trauma, I am here to hold space for you. Our journey begins by gently identifying the specific hurdles you are facing. Then, we will create a personalised treatment plan—one designed specifically to help you reclaim your life and feel like "you" again. I believe therapy should be more than just talk; it should lead to tangible change. Many of my clients notice a significant lifting of their symptom.

I have over 4 years experience working within the prison service and with fathers seperated from children through the probation service.
I support people from all walks of life who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma, or low self-esteem. Many seek a safe, non-judgemental space to talk, explore emotions, and find healthier ways forward. While my practice is open to everyone, I have a specialist focus on men’s mental health, offering a space where men can speak freely about pressures, identity, or past experiences. Together, we work towards greater clarity, resilience, and confidence in life.

Before training as a therapist, I was a teacher for 20 years and saw first-hand the challenges children face in their everyday lives.
I'm passionate about helping children work through difficult issues and feel more balance in their lives, Creativity is a child's natural language - what better way to communicate than through play? I also support parents to better understand their child's unique needs, emotions and behaviours, helping to build confidence and a stronger connection.

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviours change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).

What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way

What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
