Clients access therapy for a multitude of reasons; there may be difficulties at work, challenges in a relationship or a client may have been abused spanning a number of years. My hope with therapy is to explore the roots of issues, to rediscover our innate resilience, to build self-esteem and to help you meet your goals, your hopes, your wishes. Many people access therapy because they want to feel different, to change the emotions they are experiencing, or for others it may be learning to access those feelings that have perhaps been locked away through trauma.

Do you find yourself staying in situations even when you are not happy, longer than you wanted? Do you avoid speaking up and saying how you really feel as the fear of feeling like a disappointment and guilt mean it is too hard to put your own needs first? I specialise in and have over 12 years experience working with teenagers and adults with low self esteem & self confidence and people who have experienced narcissistic abuse as a child or adult. I am also experienced in working with people who are feeling anxious, stressed, uncertain about what they want from the future, experiencing loss, bereavement and other major life events.

Hello there. My name is Karl and I appreciate you taking the time to read my profile. If you're struggling with unhelpful or negative thoughts and emotions then I can appreciate how distressing this may be for you. I can help you manage these through the use of CBT & EMDR based techniques and strategies. In my practice I consider my clients to be a co-therapist and we will work together. CBT works by the theory that we can manage and modulate our emotions through evaluating/changing our cognitions & behaviours accordingly. EMDR utilises bilateral stimulation (eye movements) to aid the reprocessing of symptoms of Trauma and PTSD.

Therefore my approach is integrative, tailored to each client and draws on 7 years training which includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, solution focused therapy, CBT, DBT, trauma focused and humanistic counselling. Self Esteem Counsellors
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
