My own journey to becoming a therapist began with the need to make sense of my own situations and self. The beliefs I had about myself and the world as I saw it, and the beliefs I had about how the world saw me. I bring lived experience of managing mental challenges and addictions. I understand that our unique life experiences shape how we think, feel, and relate to the world and one another. Amazing things unfold when humans, together, face the problems of living with openness and kindness and without pressure to perform. This is the essence of therapy.

My ideal client is someone ready to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, often dealing with issues like anxiety, low self esteem relationship struggles, or past trauma. They need a safe, non-judgemental space to work through these challenges with empathy and support. Their goals are to gain self awareness, improve emotional well-being, develop healthier coping mechanisms and strengthen relationships. Ultimately, they want to feel empowered, find clarity and create lasting positive change in their lives.

Offering reduced fees. moving my practice online has enbaled me to pass these savings on to my clients. People generally look for a counsellor because they feel stuck or unable to move forward from unhelpful thoughts and behaviour patterns. You could struggle to connect with others and maintain healthy relationships. You may also feel like you can’t keep up with the people around you; as though everyone is doing better than you are. Self-acceptance and self-worth may be a problem, especially if you are suffering from anxiety and depression. Do you want to move forward and build yourself a sustainable future?

I offer a welcoming space when times are difficult; you may need someone to talk to about relationship issues, support with feeling low or anxious, or maybe you'd like to explore feelings about your past. I provide a neuro-affirming space; whether you have a formal diagnosis or are self-diagnosed. My experience includes supporting teenagers, as well as adults. I also have an interest in supporting parents, including those with premature babies; something I have personal experience of. We can work together to help you feel less stressed or worried, to find more balance in life, to notice your strengths, and discover coping skills.

My approach is grounded in contemporary psychoanalytic thought, which means I’m interested in how unconscious patterns, early experiences, and the wider social world shape how we live, relate, and feel.
This kind of therapy can help with many things: anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck or disconnected. It’s natural to come with whatever name or understanding feels right to you — diagnosis, symptoms, or simply how life feels in the moment. Psychoanalytic therapy doesn’t ask you to leave those parts behind.

I am an experienced Adult Psychotherapist ( Psychoanalytic / Psychodynamic ) and will often work with clients who have experienced severe and complex trauma or difficult relational issues, particularly where these have arisen in childhood and continue to be problematic in later life.
I believe that our capacity to cope with issues that arise in adult life, whether this is how we experience the world, relate to others, cope with difficult situations or understand and manage what can often be overwhelming emotions, is ultimately bound up with our early experiences. Whether we wish to or not we carry our history with us and sometimes this does not provide the strong foundation needed to engage and embrace life or weather its storms. I work with clients to recognise the origins of their difficulties so that together we might arrive at a place where life is understandable, and they feel both validated and valued.

I use DDP and Theraplay, play therapy, Child EMDR and psychoanalytic child psychotherapy.
You might be concerned about your child for a number of reasons. The stress of life, Depression Anxiety Trauma or behavoural issues are all signs that something is needing attention. Parents need to understand their children and to respond in ways that might be more effective. Giving children space to express and communicate from their own perspective can also be of help. I have many years experience of working in the NHS in CAMHS and want to be able to reach those who are not offered a service or where the wait is very long.

A lot of the people I work with are exhausted by anxiety. Sometimes it shows up like a constant, low-level hum that never really shuts off. Or there may be moments where everything just feels completely overwhelming. Perhaps you've reached a point where what worked before is no longer enough, or you feel you've lost touch with your intuition. Therapy provides a unique opportunity to reconnect with yourself in ways that are often challenging to do alone. My role is to sit with you and to help you work through the mess.

I specialise in working with anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma and work issues. I am highly trained in trauma-informed psychotherapy and coaching. My integrative approach blends transactional analysis psychotherapy, EMDR, and ancient healing practices to address root causes for good. In our first meeting, we’ll discuss goals, agree how we’ll work, and create a flexible plan for lasting change, usually with weekly sessions.

These include, Person-Centred, Psychoanalytic, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, CBT, Spirituality and more.
Opening up to someone new can understandably make you feel anxious. You may wonder, "Will I be judged?" "Will I be told I'm a hopeless case?" A lot of the time we can be own worst enemy. We tell ourselves that we are not good enough, not capable, or not loveable. We get frustrated, angry, depressed, anxious, and stuck in a world which sometimes feels fake and hollow somehow. We allow others to bully us, walk all over us, hurt us and destroy our dreams. However, all is not lost. Often all we need is just a small change in our perception, and to be seen and heard. This can make a huge difference.

Are you looking for a compassionate companion to help you navigate life’s challenges? I specialise in supporting adults experiencing grief, including those affected by replacement child dynamics, where a child is born following the loss of a sibling. Grief can feel deeply isolating, especially when your experience isn’t fully understood, or when you feel expected to cope in a certain way. You may be navigating overwhelming emotions, numbness, or a sense that life has changed in ways that are hard to put into words. You don’t have to face that alone.

I work in-depth with people who are struggling day-to-day or are feeling unfulfilled in their lives. You can talk to me about anything, and together we will explore what's leaving you feeling empty, troubled or overwhelmed. Having trained in an NHS psychotherapy unit, I am well versed in working with a wide variety of hardships. In addition, I worked in corporate settings for over a decade and coached individuals in that world, gaining an MBA and an MSc before training in psychotherapy. As part of my advanced training for a doctorate in psychotherapy I also have opportunities available for low-fee, intensive psychotherapy.

Throughout our lives we may encounter challenging experiences. We may feel lost and lack the guidance and clarity to assist in making difficult choices. We may struggle to deal with the affliction of loss or bereavement. We may find it difficult to understand the sensations and emotions attached to trauma and relational conflicts. We may be unsure of our identity and how we fit within the world.

Do you feel you have spent a long time coping, managing, and holding things together for everyone else. Many of my clients have learned to be the strong one, the dependable one, the one who doesn’t make a fuss. Despite all that outward steadiness, they feel disconnected from themselves, from their feelings, or from the people they care about. They come to therapy because they’re tired of surviving. They want to understand themselves, not just keep going

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviours. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behaviour is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
