We begin by looking at the communication styles, the patterns of behaviour and any trauma that has impacted their relationship.
Hello, I am a qualified Counsellor and I have nearly 20 years experience working particularly with couples. I trained with the Relate Institute. I help Couples and individuals to work with their differences within the relationship and understand better ways to relate to each other. Many people encounter problems in their marriage or partnership that feel impossible to solve, and I would hope that between us we can explore what holds you back from resolving these and work out ways to find a more positive pathway forward.

You may be feeling stuck or lost, anxious and depressed or perhaps you have experienced trauma.
Person-centred counselling is based on the belief that every person is unique and, therefore, your view of your own world, and ability to manage it, should be trusted. It provides an environment where you can feel held, understood, and valued, allowing you to explore your emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a non-judgmental setting with kindness and care.

I feel very passionately about the positive effect that therapy can have upon peoples lives. Over the years I’ve worked with a range of challenges that people can experience. Working through pain or difficulties together is a process I find very rewarding. Often people will arrive being unsure what to expect and feeling apprehensive about what is to come. My approach is to create a welcoming, warm and confidential space where together we can gain an understanding of your situation. I am trained to draw from several therapeutic models so we can find a way forward that suits your preferences and goals for change.

I have worked extensively with people who have experienced childhood adversity, adoption and fostering, complex trauma, and those experiencing grief, as well as those with neurodiverse needs, enabling them to hold a more integrated picture of themselves.
Hi! I believe that we are all made of stories - and stories have the power to shape our lives. Together we'll explore YOUR stories, about yourself and your world– the ones you've absorbed through life, and the ones hidden deep in your bones. Through an existential, decolonial, queer and maybe sometimes anarchist lens, we'll play with stories through art, zines, puppets, walking and listening, deeply, to the stories of the objects and the places we encounter. I invite you to a radical lostness, an imaginal place of possibility and seeing things differently, where new, strange stories can shift your perspective and open new paths!

I work with you; your experiences, feelings, concerns, anxieties, challenges, hopes, and potential. My approach helps you to recognise when feelings are out of balance with experiences and make changes accordingly. My work aims to help you find a way that you can understand and use to navigate life's challenges through working relationally to better understand your own potential. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor I worked in executive and leadership positions helping me to understand the struggles and stress associated with a demanding and insecure workplace.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
