I'm a BACP Registered and NCPS Acc Counsellor/ Psychotherapist & Supervisor with over 12 years experience, currently working in private practice. I've experience of and do work with a vast array of mental health issues, but seeing the person holistically rather than as a 'mental health condition' is so important in how I work. Any queries or questions please do contact me

I offer a welcoming space when times are difficult; you may need someone to talk to about relationship issues, support with feeling low or anxious, or maybe you'd like to explore feelings about your past. I provide a neuro-affirming space; whether you have a formal diagnosis or are self-diagnosed. My experience includes supporting teenagers, as well as adults. I also have an interest in supporting parents, including those with premature babies; something I have personal experience of. We can work together to help you feel less stressed or worried, to find more balance in life, to notice your strengths, and discover coping skills.

I specialise in working with anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma and work issues. I am highly trained in trauma-informed psychotherapy and coaching. My integrative approach blends transactional analysis psychotherapy, EMDR, and ancient healing practices to address root causes for good. In our first meeting, we’ll discuss goals, agree how we’ll work, and create a flexible plan for lasting change, usually with weekly sessions.

Sometimes it can be difficult to say how we feel. Sometimes we may not know what we are feeling, let alone how to articulate this. Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art-making as its main mode of expression and communication; art is not used as a diagnostic tool but as a medium to explore and address confusing or distressing feelings and behaviours that may not be revealed using words alone. By awakening your creativity, Art Therapy can help you to connect with yourself in order to better understand your emotions and relationships within the world, leading to positive change.

Opening up to someone new can understandably make you feel anxious. You may wonder, "Will I be judged?" "Will I be told I'm a hopeless case?" A lot of the time we can be own worst enemy. We tell ourselves that we are not good enough, not capable, or not loveable. We get frustrated, angry, depressed, anxious, and stuck in a world which sometimes feels fake and hollow somehow. We allow others to bully us, walk all over us, hurt us and destroy our dreams. However, all is not lost. Often all we need is just a small change in our perception, and to be seen and heard. This can make a huge difference.

I work in-depth with people who are struggling day-to-day or are feeling unfulfilled in their lives. You can talk to me about anything, and together we will explore what's leaving you feeling empty, troubled or overwhelmed. Having trained in an NHS psychotherapy unit, I am well versed in working with a wide variety of hardships. In addition, I worked in corporate settings for over a decade and coached individuals in that world, gaining an MBA and an MSc before training in psychotherapy. As part of my advanced training for a doctorate in psychotherapy I also have opportunities available for low-fee, intensive psychotherapy.

Do you feel you have spent a long time coping, managing, and holding things together for everyone else. Many of my clients have learned to be the strong one, the dependable one, the one who doesn’t make a fuss. Despite all that outward steadiness, they feel disconnected from themselves, from their feelings, or from the people they care about. They come to therapy because they’re tired of surviving. They want to understand themselves, not just keep going

My ideal client is one of complexity; I plan on to enrol onto a Doctorate becoming a counselling psychologist. I am a qualified counsellor and my knowledge base started 15 years ago when I fell ill. I have had an eventful life, including heart problems, strokes and many other issues. Through therapies, self help and determination I am happy with my life and I would love to share my knowledge. I have specialised in complex bereavement over the past 6 years seeing clients face to face and supporting them through the hard times. There is a need for more LGBT counsellors that understand and help.

Welcome! I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 1998 and work as a supervisor too, with practices in Exeter and London and online. I believe that many of our difficulties develop due to our early life and past experiences, including trauma. We repeat patterns in our lives hoping that things will get resolved. Sometimes these patterns are unhelpful to us. Therapy offers, in a confidential and safe space, the possible facilitation of being able to recognise these patterns and approach them from a new perspective. (more detailed information can be found on www.psycho-dynamic.co.uk)

Having studied Philosophy as an undergraduate, I’m drawn to a philosophical and existential appreciation of the nature of our Being and how some of the ideas found there, connect with relational psychoanalytic approaches to our understanding of self, others, and the world.
I am a Psychotherapist, Supervisor, & Group Analyst in Training with many years’ experience working as a Psychotherapist in mental health services in the NHS, and in drug rehabilitation services in West London. I was lead for the Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Service in Somerset NHS Trust, before moving to Devon to take up work as a Psychotherapist in a Specialist Therapeutic Community within the Personality Disorder Service. I worked there for 10 years, and then as Professional Lead at The Haldon Specialist Eating Disorder Service. I am undertaking further training as a Group Analyst with the Institute of Group Analysis.

Depression, anxiety, stress, loss and separation are some of the more difficult issues we come up against in life which can seriously impact the way we live our lives. Reaching out for therapy can feel difficult, especially when you have been carrying things quietly for a long time or are unsure where to begin. Many people come when they feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, affected by relationships, loss, low confidence or ongoing stress, and simply want a safe space to think clearly, feel understood and make sense of what they are experiencing

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviours. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behaviour is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
