I offer counselling and therapeutic coaching. Clients will come to me with a range of problems and often feel some confusion and simply need to talk. In our work we will clarify the problem and see what is most challenging for you at the present time. We will discover where this confusion arises in the body and mind and begin to understand where it began: Perhaps this has been triggered in the past: by an environment, people, a person, upbringing etc. The work we do is compassionate and kind. Through online Cognitive Behaviour Therapy sessions I provide coping methods, discussions, discovery, and learning resources to support my clients to connect to their true selves. I came to the UK over 25 years ago, and fully established my personal life and a successful career in a foreign country. I brought up two children, whilst learning a new culture and language, which appeared to be, at the time, daunting tasks. This personal experience and my 15 years in the NHS, has enabled me to build on my further professional studies and therefore bring a deeper level of understanding resulting in exceptional therapeutic outcomes.

What troubles you matters. So does the life you long for. Perhaps you feel anxious, disconnected or caught in painfully familiar patterns. You may be facing loss, relationship difficulties or questions about who you are and what comes next. I work especially well with people seeking both relief and deeper self-understanding. Through gentle, searching conversations, we can explore what hurts, give voice to what remains unspoken and find practical ways to live more freely. I offer online counselling across the UK and in-person sessions in Dundee and St Andrews.

Perhaps you are experiencing stress, low-self esteem, the effects of trauma, bereavement or depression. Maybe you feel that something isn't quite 'right'. If so, psychotherapy could be used to help you gain self-acceptance, and a deeper understanding of what makes you 'tick' and what doesn't. Psychotherapy is typically a weekly meeting of fifty minutes, often over a medium to long term. With time and commitment, we aim to build what may be called a 'therapeutic alliance' that allows you to feel able to safely explore and eventually understand and come to terms with difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences both current and past.

FAQ - Therapy for Gambling
How do I know if someone has a gambling problem that could benefit from therapy?
A person with gambling disorder is often in denial of their problem. The individual generally gambles increasing amounts of money to achieve the desired excitement. They are restless or irritable when attempting to cut down or stop gambling. This person may have made unsuccessful repeated attempts to control, cut back, or stop gambling. This individual is often preoccupied with thoughts of past gambling, planning the next activity, and how to get the money needed.
What is an effective treatment for gambling?
Cognitive behavioural therapy is used for many conditions and disorders. CBT concentrates on the individual’s thoughts and behaviours. For example, beliefs about the odds of winning are challenged in therapy. In addition, this type of therapy zeroes in on habits and triggers; it also devises coping strategies when triggers arise. CBT can be effective, but the individual must admit they have a problem, and they must have the desire to stop gambling.
How long does therapy take for gambling disorder?
Recovering from gambling disorder takes time and effort. There’s no precise timeline for treatment, but a person can see change if they stick with therapy and if they have the will and desire to stop. Treatment for gambling disorder requires honesty in therapy, a commitment to understanding triggers, as well as the development of coping skills. Making lifestyle changes is also important, such as staying away from lotteries, online gambling, and casinos.
Is relapse a problem for those with a gambling disorder?
Gambling disorder is often chronic and can be life-long; therefore relapse may present a problem for some individuals. But effective treatment can bring a person’s life under control. To remain healthy and on track, the individual may need to regularly check in with their support group or psychotherapist. Frequently refreshing their tools of recovery can be helpful.
