People often come to therapy when a difficulty has started to affect how they feel, relate, work, or see themselves. Alongside my private practice, I work in the facial palsy field and draw on experience in craniofacial and facial palsy services, as well as staff support. As an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and CBT Therapist, I have a particular interest in visible difference, health-related difficulties, and supporting NHS and healthcare staff affected by workplace stress, burnout, moral stress, pressure and return-to-work concerns.

My core approach integrates person-centred and psychodynamic therapy, whilst drawing on techniques from CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy ( DBT).
Neurodivergent individuals are more likely to experience mental health difficulties, yet often find themselves feeling misunderstood by professionals. Drawing on my personal and professional background, I offer affirming and inclusive therapy both online and face-to-face in Headington and Summertown. I work primarily with autistic and ADHD clients experiencing a wide range of issues, including trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low mood, procrastination, perfectionism, disordered eating, and difficulties regulating emotions. I also support those who may be at the early stages of exploring their identity.

Two of my specialities are "Breath, Body, Mind" practice ( Level 1 ) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, ( DBT, level 1 ).
I aim to focus on what you bring. We can explore together in an open and creative way or else be more structured / goal - orientated. We can also combine both approaches. If diet is your focus, if you want, we can integrate psychotherapy. Essentially I am holistic: with the body-mind connection, relationships, and circumstances.

Through online Cognitive Behaviour Therapy sessions I provide coping methods, discussions, discovery, and learning resources to support my clients to connect to their true selves. I came to the UK over 25 years ago, and fully established my personal life and a successful career in a foreign country. I brought up two children, whilst learning a new culture and language, which appeared to be, at the time, daunting tasks. This personal experience and my 15 years in the NHS, has enabled me to build on my further professional studies and therefore bring a deeper level of understanding resulting in exceptional therapeutic outcomes.

I have worked as a counsellor for the past 20 years, since my first training with Relate in 2004. In 2025 I completed my Person-Centred counselling course at Warwick University, gaining a first class honours degree in Counselling and the Therapeutic Relationship. I am now a BACP certified counsellor with a special interest in working with university students who are facing acute mental health challenges. A place at University: the fulfilment of a dream, hard work rewarded! But then the pressure can start to build up… can I make the grade? will I fit in?

If you're the person others rely on, asking for help yourself can feel unfamiliar. You may appear to be coping. You might be successful at work, meeting responsibilities and keeping everything together, but inside you feel exhausted, anxious or stuck in patterns of overthinking, self-criticism or people-pleasing. I help people who are used to pushing through, but who want to understand themselves more deeply and create lasting change. Together, we’ll explore what’s driving these patterns so you can feel calmer, more confident and more like yourself again.

I draw from evidence-based modalities of therapy, such as CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic, and Person-Centered to create a therapeutic plan tailored to the client and their goals.
I work across the lifespan, with children, adolescents, and adults seeking therapy for a wide variety of reasons. Consistent with the evidence, I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the core of therapeutic change. Therefore, I place emphasis on developing a strong rapport with my clients. I do this by creating an empathic and non-judgmental space.

I mainly work with Person-centred therapy, Psychodynamic therapy (an in-depth exploration of current patterns of behaviour that may be rooted in past and early experiences) and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, including compassion focused therapy (CFT) and dialectical behavioural therapy ( DBT) (provides the client with practical coping strategies and skills).
Starting therapy can sometimes be a daunting experience. Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other. You can consider whether I am the right fit for you, and we can explore your goals and motivations for therapy, creating a collaborative plan for potentially working together. With lots of space for any questions you may have! I hold a strong desire to create space for individuals to share their voices, to feel seen and to be heard. Alongside my professional knowledge, I hope to draw from my personal journey to inspire warmth, authenticity, and connection within the therapeutic relationship we build.

Hi there! I am Amber, the Director of Healthy Mind Psychology. We aim to be a different type of practice. Our focus includes work with those people trying to cope with all the stresses and strains of unprecedented times upon us. But many struggle with issues outside of the normal narrative of mental health, or physical health too. Our practice aims to explain the stress response (whether that be from overdue bills, a critical family system, a harsh workplace, current or previous traumas, or a host of other things!) and the science behind how the mind/body interact to create physical symptoms, emotional distress, or bad habits!

I blend CBT and evidence-based practice with elements from third-wave approaches such as ACT and DBT-informed techniques, alongside somatic awareness, trauma-informed care, and insights from Schema Therapy — particularly in understanding deeper emotional patterns and unmet needs.
Feeling stuck despite trying everything? Many of my clients say: "I understand what's wrong, but I still feel overwhelmed and exhausted." If anxiety or low mood feels constant, patterns keep repeating, or you're carrying past experiences you can't shake - you're not broken. Your nervous system is doing exactly what it learnt to do.I specialise in evidence-based CBT enhanced with nervous system awareness and neuroscience education. Many clients notice meaningful shifts within 3 sessions - not because we just talk, but because we work with your body's responses, not against them.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
