Cigna and Evernorth Counselling in Oxford
Often, individual difficulties are accompanied by the challenges of daily life, which make each person’s experience different and their therapeutic needs unique. Through short or long term therapy, I aim to support meaningful change in areas you would like to work on, with an understanding of the wider picture of how these issues may feature in daily life.

The people who come to us arrive with the full range of adult difficulty — anxiety that has been wearing them down, depression, the after-effects of trauma, relationships that are not working, neurodivergent adults, LGBTQIA+ clients looking for genuinely affirming practice, and senior professionals carrying pressure they cannot put down anywhere else. What our team of more than 90 qualified counsellors and therapists offers is something specific: deliberate matching. You are not assigned to whoever happens to be available. You are matched to the practitioner whose training, specialism, and approach actually fit your needs.

I'm Owen, a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience in the NHS.
We all go through tougher chapters from time to time and can get caught up struggling with stress, anxiety or low mood. Sometimes we need support to navigate problems in relationships or the emotional impact of physical illness, ageing or loss. I take a compassionate and collaborative approach to help my clients deal with such issues, aiming to empower them to develop skills that they can draw upon for the rest of their lives.
I work in partnership with clients from our first contact in order to tailor my approach to suit your needs and preferences.

I am passionate about helping clients intercept 'stuck' cycles by finding new ways of adjusting and coping. Many of the clients that I work with find themselves struggling with life demands or what the World Health Organisation (WHO) typically defines as 'burn-out' (ICD-10). Quite often they feel overwhelmed, depleted and unable to find an obvious solution to their problem. They find themselves chronically ruminating about the past or worrying about the future, leading to vicious cycles of depression and anxiety. These clients require a specialised therapist who can offer brief, effective treatment.

Anyone can access counselling for any reason, there is no ideal client, someone who is willing to explore their inner world and is committed to making positive changes in their life, might get the most out of working with me. If you struggle with issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, or self-doubt, feel stuck or overwhelmed and may not know how to move forward or might just be looking to develop as a person.

You are the expert on yourself an only you can decide what might work for you. We will form a plan together, perhaps over the course of two to three sessions, of how we can proceed, and what we collaboratively believe is going on for you. You will find my practice is based on a humanistic, integrative, pluralistic blending of possibilities from several frameworks, including CBT, Gestalt, Compassion Focused Therapy, ideas from psychodynamic practice, with a person-centred, humanistic core.

Perhaps you are experiencing stress, low-self esteem, the effects of trauma, bereavement or depression. Maybe you feel that something isn't quite 'right'. If so, psychotherapy could be used to help you gain self-acceptance, and a deeper understanding of what makes you 'tick' and what doesn't. Psychotherapy is typically a weekly meeting of fifty minutes, often over a medium to long term. With time and commitment, we aim to build what may be called a 'therapeutic alliance' that allows you to feel able to safely explore and eventually understand and come to terms with difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences both current and past.

Hi! I'm Jonathan. Thank you for taking a look at my profile. I know that it's difficult to choose a psychologist, so here is a bit about me and if you'd like a chat before meeting, let me know! We will focus on your goals for therapy and develop a collaborative understanding of your story, and what may be contributing towards any difficulties. I am trained to work with a variety of difficulties from low mood, anxiety and adjustment to trauma, low esteem and family difficulties, amongst many others!

Need therapy beyond friends, podcasts and self-help books that no longer help? Perhaps it is time to speak with a professional. I know that not everyone has a 'problem' as such but we sometimes simply want to understand ourselves better, figure out how we end up in the situations we keep finding ourselves and explore our feelings discreetly without judgement. Whatever your reasons for seeking therapy at this time, I welcome you.
I am Sade and I am here to accompany you in your journey towards self-knowledge and change. It won't always be easy (you probably know that) but you will no longer be alone.

Hi there! I am Amber, the Director of Healthy Mind Psychology. We aim to be a different type of practice. Our focus includes work with those people trying to cope with all the stresses and strains of unprecedented times upon us. But many struggle with issues outside of the normal narrative of mental health, or physical health too. Our practice aims to explain the stress response (whether that be from overdue bills, a critical family system, a harsh workplace, current or previous traumas, or a host of other things!) and the science behind how the mind/body interact to create physical symptoms, emotional distress, or bad habits!

My approach is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and a deep understanding that healing is as much about reconnecting with yourself as it is about addressing the wounds you’ve endured. Where relevant I can help you to understand the source of your core pain, which acknowledges and honours the struggles you have already endured while identifying the strengths you have developed to adapt and survive. Where some of these adaptations have become unhelpful, I work with you to discover healthy coping mechanisms and tools moving forward.

Cigna and Evernorth Counsellors
Cigna and its healthcare division Evernorth provide behavioral health coverage though managed care plans and Medicare Advantage plans. Outside the U.S., Cigna provides insurance through Cigna Global Health Benefits.
Cigna and Evernorth HMO plans only cover services from in-network providers and require a referral from your primary care physician. EPO plans also utilize in-network providers but generally do not require a PCP referral. PPO plans offer the most flexibility and a larger network of providers, and may include some out of network benefits.
Occasionally Cigna or Evernorth Counsellors in Oxford, England will only accept a limited number of in-network insurance patients in their practice, so it's important to check if your plan is accepted when you book a consultation.
Based in Connecticut, Cigna insures 180 million people in more than 30 countries around the world. Cigna rebraded its health services division as Evernorth in September 2021.
