I'm Owen, a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience in the NHS. We all go through tougher chapters from time to time and can get caught up struggling with stress, anxiety or low mood. Sometimes we need support to navigate problems in relationships or the emotional impact of physical illness, ageing or loss. I take a compassionate and collaborative approach to help my clients deal with such issues, aiming to empower them to develop skills that they can draw upon for the rest of their lives. I work in partnership with clients from our first contact in order to tailor my approach to suit your needs and preferences.

The people who come to us arrive with the full range of adult difficulty — anxiety that has been wearing them down, depression, the after-effects of trauma, relationships that are not working, neurodivergent adults, LGBTQIA+ clients looking for genuinely affirming practice, and senior professionals carrying pressure they cannot put down anywhere else. What our team of more than 90 qualified counsellors and therapists offers is something specific: deliberate matching. You are not assigned to whoever happens to be available. You are matched to the practitioner whose training, specialism, and approach actually fit your needs.

Often, individual difficulties are accompanied by the challenges of daily life, which make each person’s experience different and their therapeutic needs unique. Through short or long term therapy, I aim to support meaningful change in areas you would like to work on, with an understanding of the wider picture of how these issues may feature in daily life.

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC. I am also a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, with additional training in systemic approaches with AFT, and in Clinical Neuropsychiatry. Alongside my private practice, I have worked within NHS and European public healthcare services since 2019. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, pain, sleep problems, or feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I often work with people navigating change - whether this follows diagnosis, injury, or life event, or reflects a quieter sense that something no longer feels as it once did.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons, and often when life has not been easy. Choosing a therapy, and a therapist often adds to the confusion of obstacles to be overcome at such a difficult time. I am a fully qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist and qualified supervisor of other therapists. I do not claim to have the answers, but I can offer you a quiet calm space in which you can take time to explore your life with someone who is non judgemental and who wants to support you in your goals.

Anxiety, depression and difficult childhoods lead to misery and suffering, affecting relationships, careers, self-esteem. I help people suffering with anxiety, depression and/or childhood trauma to have better relationships with themselves and others and lead fulfilling lives. We would explore together what has led you to suffer currently and to build up greater awareness of triggers and emotions. In turn this gives you choices over how to respond to situations in ways that are healthy. I offer a bespoke approach to support you during this process.

People come to me for all sorts of reasons, from low mood, stress, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, to climate and world politics anxiety. In my opinion, most people at some point in their lifetime need some form of talking therapy. You do not need to have a particular symptom or diagnosis to be suitable for therapy. Before, during and after my training, I worked within the health, social and criminal justice sector. I have worked with organisations specialising in the rehabilitation of drug and alcohol users and prolific offenders.

If you're the person others rely on, asking for help yourself can feel unfamiliar. You may appear to be coping. You might be successful at work, meeting responsibilities and keeping everything together, but inside you feel exhausted, anxious or stuck in patterns of overthinking, self-criticism or people-pleasing. I help people who are used to pushing through, but who want to understand themselves more deeply and create lasting change. Together, we’ll explore what’s driving these patterns so you can feel calmer, more confident and more like yourself again.
