Whether affected directly by the coronavirus, or self isolating it's a recipe for anxiety and depression.
Hello! Thank you for checking my profile. I know that It’s really difficult to find the right therapist. We can have a brief chat on the phone or else arrange an initial assessment appointment and see how we get on together. I am an integrative Psychotherapist. I can see you for psychotherapy for any issues and problems in your life which are stopping you from living it to the full . I am also a dietician and can advise on healthy eating and nutrition. We can agree on nutritional targets based on tailor-made meal plan for you, if this is what you require .

My main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and I have found that it is a great tool to help you understand how unhelpful cycles arose, and how to break them. I feel passionate about supporting both individuals and couples to understand themselves and the unique journey they have been on.

Whether you need to overcome a traumatic experience, difficulties in relationships, self esteem, anxiety or coaching to provide skills to transition through life, manage a situation or perform at your best.
Overcoming experiences in life that impact on us in an unhelpful way is not straight forward. It can also be damaging to our health and happiness if we develop unwanted behaviours to cope with our emotions. EMDR, Hypnosis, Symbolic Modelling combined with psychotherapy can help you move forward with confidence.

Counselling can help with a variety of issues, some of the areas I work with are: anxiety, depression, stress management, bereavement, long term illness, relationship issues, spirituality and loss/change of identity.
I offer a non-judgemental, safe environment to help you understand yourself and your life. Counselling can support you to find your own insights, new ways of being with yourself and others, and work towards healing and freedom. It can be a space to get things off your chest, rest or reset, find perspective and understanding in life and relationships, as well as having someone to really hear and be with you as you share and explore what is difficult. My practice is informed by Buddhist philosophy and meditation, which I have been exploring and supporting others with for over 15 years, emphasising embodied awareness and compassion.

Originally, I trained at the University of Oxford in psychodynamic practice over a period of four years, and have an ongoing research interest in lifespan development, personality problems and long forms of depression and anxiety.
Seeking therapy can be a confusing process; one complicated by the fact that many come during a time of crisis. I provide a supportive, confidential space where we can think openly, free of judgement, about different aspects of you and your life. I offer psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy, both once and twice a week at a private clinic in Headington, Oxford.

I have supported clients going through a range of problems, with a lot of experience working with: anxiety, depression, relationship troubles both platonic and romantic, self-esteem and bereavement.
Feeling stuck? It may feel hard to talk about certain things with friends and loved ones for many reasons, and it can feel like there’s no way to escape what you’re experiencing. I can offer you a safe, confidential space to help you make more sense of your situation, help put your problems into a new light and perhaps give you a new perspective on what’s going on for you. More recently, I've been working with neurodivergent clients and clients who feel some kind of affinity to neurodiversity. Their experience with therapy can be very hit and miss and I've been able to provide an environment of understanding and empathy.

Perhaps you struggle with anxiety or low mood or self esteem, or a life event has knocked you off course.
Whatever has brought you to this place, I can help. In a relaxed environment I'll ask you questions to help me understand how you think and feel. We'll look at childhood to see where some of your thinking might have come from, and then together we'll work towards those things you want to change. It's my goal to help you feel supported and understood.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
