You may seem to the world to be successful, sure of yourself, and in control whilst feeling increasingly isolated as you battle, perhaps in secret, with your fear, anxiety, loneliness or past. You may sense that part of you is hidden, maybe even from yourself, tripping you up when it matters most, that your life is not quite what you hoped or your choices are unfulfilling. You may wish to know your own heart, to be on your own side, and to be able engage authentically and meaningfully with your life. Working together we can listen out for your quiet inner voice, the one that already knows you and already knows how to be.

I’m Louise, a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working in the NHS with children, young people and parents. At your initial appointment, I will offer a friendly and welcoming space to think about what is troubling you or your family and explore what you hope to achieve through therapy. We will work together in partnership, drawing on your expertise about your family, and my knowledge and practical experience of a range of different evidence-based psychological therapies to reach your goals. Sessions may involve working individually with children, young people or parents, or family work.

Often, individual difficulties are accompanied by the challenges of daily life, which make each person’s experience different and their therapeutic needs unique. Through short or long term therapy, I aim to support meaningful change in areas you would like to work on, with an understanding of the wider picture of how these issues may feature in daily life.

My clinical experience encompasses many years working in a mental health setting and private practice dealing with a broad range of symptoms including, but not limited to, chronic trauma, loss or abuse, stress, anxiety, depression, marital difficulties, child-parent conflicts, self-harm, bi-polar disorder, addiction and border-line states – to name just some of the presenting issues.

I welcome clients facing a wide variety of challenges, including bereavement, anxiety, depression, sex and relationship issues, low self-esteem, trauma, and family issues, including intergenerational trauma, sibling relationships, and parenting.
I work affirmatively with neurodivergent clients (regardless of whether you have a diagnosis or are wondering about this for yourself) and parents or grandparents of neurodivergent children and adults. I am LGBTQI+ affirming, including various relationship structures and gender identities.

If you are looking for someone to really listen to what you have to say and, where appropriate, to reflect back some non-judgemental comment, I think I could be the person you are looking for. With twelve years as a therapist and twenty-five years membership of the British Psychological Society (with a degree in that subject as well as a masters in cognitive science and over ten years working for an employee assistance provider, mostly recruiting and training therapists) I have the knowledge and experience to offer you a warm and empathic service.

We encounter various kinds of difficulties and challenges every day. At times, it can be challenging to open up to others, therefore leading to feelings of confusion and a sense of powerlessness. Recently, many individuals from Hong Kong who have relocated to the UK have faced setbacks in their social, professional, or academic pursuits. Such challenges often stem from uncertainties surrounding self-image and self-worth while adapting to a new environment. If you find yourself in a similar situation, exploring yourself through psychological counseling can provide you with more effective means to understand and address these emotions

You may have been considering therapy for a while but are hesitating or perhaps you've had previous experience and need something more. You feel something is not right but it is hard to think about or put into words? Living with high levels of anxiety, shame or fear for a prolonged period, can negatively affect the way we perceive ourselves and others. So with a compassionate approach, I work with most psychological difficulties, and have a special interest in anxiety and low mood, problematic family relationships, parenting and bereavement. I also work extensively with adolescents and welcome working with those of 16+years.
