Many people find that pressure gets in the way of performing at their best. In key moments, self-doubt, overthinking, or strong emotions can take over. How we respond to pressure—shaped by self-belief—has a powerful impact on performance and wellbeing. I help individuals and teams build self-belief and develop the psychological skills needed to perform under pressure. Our work focuses on emotional regulation, resilience, decision-making, and mental fitness, supporting you to think clearly and respond effectively when it matters most.

Do you feel sad, anxious, overwhelmed, angry, empty, lonely, scared, unsatisfied, not yourself? Do you do things you don’t want or need to do, things that aren’t good for you or the people around you? Do you wonder where your place is in the world? What is your purpose? What it all means? If any of this sounds true for you, then this is when counselling can be a positive step. I can help you to explore why you feel, think and behave the way you do, perhaps in ways that are stopping you from fulfilling your potential, from living the life you want to live, from finding meaning/purpose - from being you.

Hi, I’m Dr Claira, a Specialist Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted, often navigating the intersection between long-term health conditions such as IBS, colitis, Crohn's, functional disorders, unexplained symptoms, fatigue, pain, and experiences of trauma, stress, or adversity. Most of us will face difficult or traumatic events at some point in our lives. When these experiences interact with ongoing health challenges, recovery can feel complex or even impossible. This is where psychological therapy can help.

You understand the problem, but understanding hasn’t changed the outcome. You’ve done the reading and can name the pattern—perhaps better than most. Yet, despite the insight, you’re still avoiding the conversation, repeating the habit, or feeling the same as you did six months ago. You’re stuck in the "Insight Loop," where analysis has replaced action. My clients don't need more self-awareness; they already have it. They need a shift in how they feel and what they try next. We close the gap between knowing and doing—cutting through the fog to restore your momentum.

People come to therapy for many different and important reasons. For some it is to discuss difficult and emotional experiences, while for others its to have a space in their week to reflect and make time to check-in with themselves. I ask all my clients to come with an open-mind as therapy can take you on a journey of self-discovery. I have worked with many clients with varying degrees of personal difficulties; severe and mild distress including depression, anxiety, suicide, low-self-esteem, earlier life trauma, PTSD, relational difficulties and many more.

Hello, thanks for looking at my profile. I offer a safe and non judgemental space to explore what may be holding you back in life. You might seek support for something specific that is impacting you negatively or you might not know what you need but perhaps you've become aware that you are not experiencing life in a meaningful or fulfilling way. It could be you feel stuck in repeated patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving which are causing difficulty and challenges for your personal and professional relationships and want to change this.

As an HCPC-registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist, I help athletes perform at their best when it matters most. I’ve supported individuals and teams across football, rugby, golf, netball, and athletics, from developing performers to those competing at the highest levels. My work goes beyond “mental skills.” It’s about understanding how you think, respond, and perform under pressure, and then building the psychological tools to give you a real, lasting edge.

I’m Karen Janas, an integrative counsellor working with adults, couples, and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or exhausted, perhaps holding everything together for others while inside you feel unheard or stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand. You might be living with low mood or depression, navigating burnout, grief, menopause, or struggling with difficult relationships, including your relationship with food or with yourself. Life may feel more about surviving than living, and you’re tired of carrying it all alone.

Newid pronounced "Nowed" is Welsh for change. I chose this name not only to reflect my heritage but also to reflect that change is the only constant in life. We all travel with it, yet all our experiences can be profoundly different. I believe that counselling is a collaborative process in which we work together on what you want to change or explore in a safe non-judgemental environment. I offer an integrative approach where we work side-by-side to understand your past and help you discover new ways of coping and moving forward. I recognise that courage is not fearless and making the 1st step can be challenging in it's self.

My aim is to bring together effective approaches incorporating a variety of therapeutic models such as relational therapy, humanistic, psychodynamic, attachment theory, person centred and neuroscience. This will also depend on your individual needs. My experience also covers body psychotherapy and energy work along with solution based therapy and mindfulness. I offer both short and long term therapy and the length of therapy will depend upon the presenting issues and your wishes. Is there a particular problem you would like to talk through and explore? This could be to do with a relationship, work related or a repeating pattern.

I'm Hannah and I am an integrative therapist specialising in using eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to treat a wide range of psychological issues. I am highly trained in psychotherapy, neuroscience and trauma and believe that our current issues can often be traced back to early adverse experiences in childhood. Compared to standard talking therapy EMDR generally takes a shorter amount of time to get to the root cause of the issue. Rather than just dealing with symptom management (like CBT), EMDR therapy works directly with the cause of your distress.

How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualisation, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
