You may feel weighed down by trauma, grief, anxiety, or the impact of painful experiences that feel too heavy to carry alone. Perhaps you’re a survivor of abuse or violence, living with chronic illness, or struggling with relationships and self-worth. You may long for relief, understanding, and a supportive space where every part of you is accepted. Maybe you want to make sense of your story, process difficult memories, or discover new ways of coping. Together, we can explore your experiences, honour your strengths, and move toward clarity, resilience, renewed hope, and meaningful new possibilities for the future.

Your experience can range from establishing how to interrupt negative thoughts or how you see the world with cognitive behaviour therapy, to helping with unfinished business with Gestalt.
Ever considered having a biker as your counsellor? My aim is to recreate the supportive environment one would get around a campfire with the added calmness of a cruise in the countryside. Lets take a journey together. I am down to earth and human. Sometimes throttle therapy doesn't work and we need a little extra support.  I offer Online and Walk and Talk Sessions on the outskirts of Exeter. Where you have the opportunity to express and explore your emotions in the Scenic and calming surroundings of nature. Please note the Fee for Walk and Talk is set at £50 per session.

Ultimately, good therapy should make change: reactions, behaviours, difficult aspects of self, attitudes/beliefs about yourself or how you carry your story. I love work to with clients who are prepared to jump in, take risks and be proactive - this is the way to ensure real change. I jump in too, working with body and mind in a practical, energetic way. I view the best wisdom as something that can directly be applied to life. A supervisee described me as "real, relational, practical and not floaty/wispy". I like to incorporate psychoeducation and relevant theoretical information. I don't sit on my hands or allow unhelpful silences.

Drawing on Person-Centred, Gestalt and CBT approaches, I support you to explore old patterns, unspoken needs, or the ways you’ve had to adapt to be loved or accepted.
If you’ve grown used to tuning in to what others need, you may find it hard to know what you need — or even what you’re feeling. You might find your sense of worth rises and falls depending on how people respond to you. Over time, this can leave you anxious, unseen, and uncertain of who you really are. In our work together I offer a calm, steady space where you can begin to turn towards yourself. A place where your thoughts, feelings and needs are invited to be seen — even if you’re not sure yet what they are.

I have specialised in CBT since 2019.
Are you consumed by your thoughts and finding it impossible to focus on what really matters? I can help you. Together we can switch off auto pilot and get you back in the driver's seat of your life. You are not alone - our brains weren't wired to cope with the modern world. The sleepless nights. Avoiding difficult situations because facing your fears feels overwhelming. It feels like we are sabotaging ourselves, with no time or energy left to focus on what matters. You don't have to suffer anymore. There is a reason your brain is working on overdrive and together we can shed some light on why your thoughts feel so out of control.

Do you ever feel lost and not sure which way to turn? Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, especially if your thoughts feel scattered, you’re carrying too much, or life feels messy and overwhelming. We all have times where we struggle – whether it be with self-esteem, neuro-divergence, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, anger or relationships. And the bravest thing you can do is ask for help. Talking together we can discover what's impacting you now. What's holding you back or causing distress? By understanding your story and what does (or doesn't) work for you we can look towards improving your future.

Together we can manage difficult times in your life, make sense of challenges, understand patterns and find ways to create meaningful positive change.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors
How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?
Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
