Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Clinical evidence based Mindfulness, aimed at effective treatment of most psychological issues. I am an Expert Witness and do court work (especially trauma).I aim to get desired results quickly (I am not a fan of long term therapy, but do offer long term support, if needed). I believe action oriented client, centered therapy works better than just "active listening, "which clients often find frustrating. Empowering people to help themselves is useful and reduces realiance on a therapist, I aim to make myself redundant and not needed by a client. Remote therapy works really well in my experience.

I want to be upfront with you: therapy isn’t always easy, and it’s not always comfortable. We might dive into some difficult, personal issues that feel painful or unresolved. This can be unsettling at times, but that’s often where the real transformation happens. It’s in those moments of discomfort, when we face what’s tough to confront, that we start to break through old barriers and make space for new possibilities. In doing so, you can begin to feel more in control of your story, your choices, and your growth. This work may be challenging, but it’s also an opportunity to reclaim your voice and discover oneself.

Most people I work with don't come to therapy because they're broken. They come because they're tired. Tired of overthinking, questioning themselves, carrying everyone else, or feeling like they've lost who they are. My clients often struggle with anxiety, self-esteem, grief, identity, relationships or life transitions. Many have spent years coping alone and want a space where they no longer have to perform, have all the answers or pretend they're okay.

Reaching out can be difficult. Maybe you feel stuck, anxious, unsettled, lost your way, or uncomfortable with whom you have become. The difficulties within our lives can change who we are or how we see the world. It can lead to thoughts or behaviours that take us away from who we are, resulting in a feeling of something not being right, struggling to cope or to make sense of things. When entering therapy, our life experiences enter too, and healing occurs within the processing. We will work together to build trust and explore your emotions and thoughts within a non-judgemental and safe environment, working at your own pace.

I use a DBT informed approach for the treatment of personality disorders.
There is no question life is stressful - but the good news is that help is available. You do not have to struggle alone. We all need a neutral, non-judgmental person to talk things through with. I believe that knowing you are not alone, and having that safe place to express your fears, or uncover how the past influences you today, is essential for mental health.

Are you tired of wondering if and when things will get better? Working with me offers more than just coping strategies, it is a space for real healing and growth. Are you carrying the weight of past experiences that still affect your present life? You may feel broken, stuck, or like no one truly understands what you’ve been through. You may have already tried therapy, self-help, or coping strategies, but still feel as though the impact of trauma lingers beneath the surface.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
