I approach the therapeutic collaboration with my clients with cultural sensitivity, respect, and
acceptance
.
My name is Eva and I am an integrative, person-centred counsellor with an Honors in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counselling. I am, like you, a person, who knows both joy and pain. I also know hope, and you being here shows that you do, too. I believe our lives are a culmination of experience metabolized – what we experience is internalised, processed, and the results are expressed through our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I believe those inner monologues can be accessed through introspection. I work to facilitate and empower you in questioning those stories and rewriting alternative, desired future chapters.

Do you feel you don’t have goals or you can’t achieve them although you have tried everything? Do you feel paralysed or overwhelmed facing certain situations? Do you feel everything is annoying or your anger, sadness or fear last for long time? Do you feel stuck with some thoughts and you can’t stop overthinking them? Do you see these features within a member of your family? I think everyone will feel like this over the course of our lives, even it can be adaptative. However, sometimes we can struggle to find clarity and understanding , at the same time that respect both ourselves and others.

Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy (
ACT
), and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT).
Seeking support to help manage your mental health can be a daunting first step, it is however extremely beneficial. Whether you have been experiencing low mood and Depression, or anxiety such as worries around your health, or about something that may have happened in the past, I am here to help. In therapy we will work together to explore your difficulties, where they may have started and how they are kept going. Then, at a pace you are comfortable with, we would gradually introduce techniques to help you manage these problems in the long term.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
