I’m a person-centred psychotherapist (Dip.Hons, MBACP) who works with people navigating trauma, addiction, recovery, shame, grief, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is grounded, honest, and shaped by real-life experience—including my own long-term recovery. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to help you reconnect with yourself and move forward with clarity. I’ve worked extensively with survivors of abuse and those who feel like they’re carrying too much alone. You don’t have to face this on your own—and you don’t have to pretend to be okay here.

If you suffer from anxiety, worry, or stress I can help you overcome these challenges. If you freeze in social setting, can't face the idea of speaking in public or would like to feel more confidence as you face what the world throws at you we can work together to find a different way. If you've ever thought to yourself "I'm a lost cause" or "nothing will work" just know that you're not alone feeling this way and I've seen first hand what positive lasting changes can be made. My first goal is to create a safe, non-judgemental space to explore your challenges and so we can work together on lasting change.

If you are reading this, I am guessing you are struggling with your mental health. You may be feeling low, anxious, scared, ashamed or a mixture of different emotions. From a young age, I too have felt all these emotions. I had depression and anxiety when I was younger and at that time I felt helpless and had no one to help me through it. But I am here to make sure you don't have to do it alone like I did. I will be here to support you through your journey to feel better. From the very beginning of therapy by helping you understand your problem, to treatment and then to setting you up to prevent any relapses.

For me, physical symptoms were the gateway into healing. My body was telling me something I couldn't yet put into words, and learning to listen to that felt sense changed everything. I see psychosomatic symptoms not as weakness, but as the body's remarkable way of coping with overwhelming pain. Those patterns are signs of strength, which were strategies that once protected you, even if now they may feel limiting.

Hello there, I qualified to practice back in 2002, from here I worked full time as a Counsellor for an Alcohol service. I worked for ten years with clients where the presenting issue was alcohol misuse, however there were many other issues our clients struggled with, such as Depression, Anxiety, Low Self Esteem etc. I have extensive experience of successfully working with clients to make significant changes and to reach their goals. Since leaving this service, I have worked in a variety of therapeutic settings, gaining more and varied experience. I can help with most issues and usually without a need for long term therapy.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
