I offer specialised autism and/or ADHD assessments for mums, parents and women, as well as therapy including EMDR. As an NHS neurodivergence diagnostician, I hear how hard it is for people to get professionals to understand their concerns. It's even harder for mums and women because we don't fit the medical profile, so keep being dismissed or given the wrong labels. My own AuDHD process was long and confusing, leading to unnecessary anxiety. Getting clarity is an empowering step towards fighting overwhelm and finding a community that can be healing for ourselves and our families. We're not ugly ducks, we're swans!

Welcome to your therapeutic journey, and I know personally how difficult and nerve-racking that can be to start (or reconvene). I'm Hannah, a person -centred counsellor and am hear to support you through what is happening for you at this time. This could be anxiety, depression, a want to change something within your life at the moment. This is something that together we can explore and work through. You are unique and so are your experiences that bring you to the counselling room, and as a person-centred counsellor I embrace and recognise this as a part of the journey.

My philosophy as a human and counseling psychologist is based on my belief that every human being is unique and that we have an innate capability to heal from distressing life experiences. I love working with people using a compassion-focused approach to help them move towards a more compassionate relationship with themselves. I feel truly privileged to be part of a process where someone can use the scaffold of our work to achieve a balance in their life and relationships that brings them joy. Compassion isn’t always easy, it’s certainly not soft but it might just be the most powerful and loving thing that you can do for yourself.

As well as working in private practice, I have worked as a Psychotherapist over the last 6 years in the public sector, in the NHS and within a University Student Services setting and a Women's Charity.
Finding a therapist who you feel you can trust and open up to may feel daunting. My practice focuses on offering you a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace and in a way that allows you to process what is going on for you. What a therapy session will look like is not prescriptive and will depend on what you bring. Understanding your unique experience of the world will be the starting point on which to build a relationship together, where we can develop understanding, awareness and insight into whatever difficulties you are experiencing.

If you're anxious or depressed, or feeling stressed because of particular issues in your life then its hard to choose a counsellor that might help you. I never knew whether to pick a therapist that looked as unhinged as I felt, or go for one that seemed to have life sorted! We often feel we have to pretend to seem 'normal' or put a mask on to face to world, but therapy can be the place where you can be yourself (or work out who that could be). I try to offer you space where you are safe to explore what is affecting you, and help you reach a way forward.

Life, what's it all about? It can bring unexpected joy and/or unwanted challenges. However, we know that those challenges which create psychological and physical strains can preoccupy us the most. As a counsellor, I have a longstanding interest in supporting children, young people and adults who are going through difficult times. I will listen and engage with empathy, thereby making easier for you to feel safe as you share your thoughts and experiences.
