“Crying helps me slow down and obsess over the weight of life’s problems.” It’s a line I often return to because it speaks to something many of us were never taught - that emotions aren’t something to hide or push through, but a way of understanding ourselves better. If this feels too close to home for you, you may be used to carrying a lot quietly. From the outside, you might seem "fine", while inside you feel anxious, disconnected or unsure who you’re allowed to be. Culture, invisible pressures, and past experiences may still shape you. Our work is about creating a space where you no longer have to carry everything on your own.

Life can sometimes bring challenges involving difficult feelings and unhelpful thoughts. You might feel stressed, stuck, unhappy and unsure what to do. Therapy can help you navigate through these moments. Speaking to someone impartial and supportive can help you find a new perspective and understanding of the situation you find yourself in. You are not alone, I am here to support you in whatever you are going through.

If you're anxious or depressed, or feeling stressed because of particular issues in your life then its hard to choose a counsellor that might help you. I never knew whether to pick a therapist that looked as unhinged as I felt, or go for one that seemed to have life sorted! We often feel we have to pretend to seem 'normal' or put a mask on to face to world, but therapy can be the place where you can be yourself (or work out who that could be). I try to offer you space where you are safe to explore what is affecting you, and help you reach a way forward.

One of my clients has been feeling down, depressed and demotivated. If irritated and short-tempered with people, especially with his wife. He could not find any reason for his feelings. Following the discussion with the client, he said he was a very motivated and active member of his family, but over the past couple of years, he had noticed some changes in his thinking and behaviour. He said that he also daydreams and ruminates a lot. As a result, he had been feeling frustrated and often angry with himself.

My Approach I have a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches to best suit your unique circumstances and needs. We will work together to create a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment where you can explore the challenges you face in a relational way. You will have the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, whilst trying to understand how these might have developed. This can be a daunting process, but with support you will be given time and space to explore and reflect on your experiences and relate them to your current way of being in the world

When a client feels comfortable enough to share with you their best kept fears, hopes and undisclosed events in their life it feels like a privilege. Don’t know where to begin, feel stuck and feelings of despair? Ready for change and want to transform your life? Feeling apprehensive and lost? Want to work through difficult relationships, bereavement or loss, life stress, addictions, health conditions? The list can go on. Are you feeling sad, overwhelmed, low self esteem, disorganised or undervalued. Do you struggle to be assertive or feel motivated? Questions around identity or sexuality. Struggling with neurodiversity?

Your journey with me begins here. If anxiety is affecting your daily life, or past experiences have left you feeling lost, emotionally withdrawn, or fearful of the future, you may feel unsure where to turn next. Perhaps you don’t fully understand why you feel the way you do — you just know that something doesn’t feel right. You may be feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to face it alone. I provide a warm, supportive, compassionate space where we can explore what’s going on, make sense of your experiences, and help you move towards greater clarity, confidence, and feeling more like yourself again.

Anxiety, low mood and trauma are very common and can stop us from living life to the full. Working together using CBT and EMDR we can build an understanding of your issues, reasons for coming to therapy, then roll up our sleeves and work on overcoming them. With some hard work, some determination and me on your team you can get back to living your life the way you want to live it.

Welcome to my page! Whatever has brought you here, I hope I can help. I’ve worked with those who are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, people pleasing, burnout and trauma related difficulties. Feeling stuck, low, overwhelmed or confused can be very isolating. I hope to walk by your side while we navigate your inner world, tend to the parts that need tending to, process what has become messy and start to work towards a fulfilling positive future. I work with couples who are struggling with connection, intimacy, and betrayal, and some that just feel confused or unsure within their relationship.

If you struggle with an addiction I will work with you to help you find a way to stop and more importantly, stay stopped. I’m sure you will have heard the words “why don’t you just stop/cut down”. If only it was that simple. Your addiction probably helped or still helps you feel better or takes you away from the feelings you don’t want. If you’re looking for help it’s probably damaging your life in some way now and you’re ready to look for a solution. You have taken the first step, looking for an answer.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
