Trauma and PTSD Counselling in Nottingham
My trauma-informed therapy approach is integrative, drawing on Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment-based work, and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
You might have a lot going on in life that looks “fine” from the outside. A job. People around you. Things that suggest you’re doing okay.
And still, there can be this quiet feeling of being on your own with it all. Not fully able to say it. Not wanting to burden anyone. So you keep going, as most people do, while something inside feels a bit heavy, a bit distant, and a bit alone. It can be exhausting carrying so much without feeling truly seen or understood.

I work with clients who have experienced Trauma and childhood emotional neglect.
Have you realised that you may have been raised by a narcissist?
Do family dynamics create stress and anxiety?
Are you a people-pleaser and a perfectionist who feels that nothing is ever "good enough". Are you exhausted?
Do you feel you are guilt-tripped, manipulated and gaslit, which causes you to doubt yourself, lack confidence, feel shame and sadness?
If so, I would love to support you.
I offer counselling for adults of narcissistic parents who want to better understand themselves, build healthier boundaries, find the courage to say "No", and "enough", develop self-worth, and feel calm, confident and in control.

I work with relationship difficulties, anxiety, trauma and the patterns that form when earlier experiences shape how we relate to ourselves and others.
You might be someone who holds things together well - for yourself, and often for others. Capable, dependable, self-sufficient. But beneath that, something hasn't quite been attended to. A quiet sense that things should feel better than they do. Patterns that keep repeating. Something from earlier making itself known. You don't need a clear reason or the right words to reach out. Sometimes people simply notice that something isn't right - that there's a gap between how things look on the outside and how they feel on the inside. That's enough to begin.

Hi, I'm looking forward to hearing from you! I want to hear your concerns and support you to work towards the things that matter most to you. I believe therapy should happen in a friendly, nurturing space in which you feel safe and comfortable to bring anything you want to talk about and work on. I usually suggest exercises and other resources to complete in between sessions in order to keep the work progressing. As an accredited EMDR therapist as well as a chartered clinical psychologist, I can tailor the therapy approach to best address your concerns.

Mostly, I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and low self-esteem.
Feeling anxious, low, or weighed down by the past? Are you stuck between who you are and who you think you should be? It doesn’t have to stay this way. Often the most meaningful change happens when you feel safe enough to be yourself. That’s why I provide a space to slow down and figure things out without judgement or pressure. Together, we’ll explore what’s on your mind in whatever way feels right for you, whenever you feel ready. Over time, this can lead to greater self-awareness and more compassionate ways of relating to yourself, so life begins to feel lighter, steadier, and easier to navigate.

My speciality is supporting people with their individual experiences, particularly trauma, grief, depression and anxiety.
Life is full of experiences which can cause us to struggle, feel unsettled, overwhelmed and at odds with our true self. When we feel like this, taking the time to reflect upon our experiences, feelings and emotional responses in therapy can help understand more about ourselves and then develop a way forward that is true to our own needs, aims and desires for the life we wish to live.

I have a particular specialism in supporting adults and young people aged 11 and over experiencing anxiety, PTSD and trauma.
I specialise in incorporating nature into therapy and offering creative approaches. Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
