I am a CBT psychotherapist with over 10 years experience working in mental health services in the NHS. I have experience working with a range of difficulties from anxiety disorders to depression. I adopt a trauma informed practice focus, recognising that often our difficulties stem from our experiences. In addition to CBT I have experience using techniques drawn from DBT, ACT and MBCT as well as sensory integration. I work idiosyncratically as I believe we are all unique individuals and all need a person centred approach.

Feeling low, confused, anxious, stuck, or overwhelmed can be incredibly isolating. Even when we have people around us who want to help, their support may not always feel helpful, we may feel misunderstood or we may feel like a burden. If any of this resonates with you, I want you to know that you’re not alone. I warmly welcome you to a space where you can feel truly heard and supported. I can help with challenges such as Low mood, Anxiety, Stress, Burnout, Bereavement & Loss, Low confidence, Trauma, Life transitions, Cultural identity matters, Relationships & Family issues (I only work with individuals, no couples or families).

Human givens practitioners offer practical, solution-focused help that deals with mental and emotional distress in the here and now. They won’t waste time just endlessly listening to you or attempting to dredge up real or imagined miserable memories from the past. Nor do they deal in time-wasting so-called voyages of ‘self-discovery’… Their psychotherapy training ensures that they have a sound body of evidence-based knowledge and the proven skills to help both adults and children as quickly as possible with a wide variety of emotional and behavioural difficulties.

I help midlife women have an anxiety free menopause. Women in transition, who feel anxious, stuck and overwhelmed, and know something needs to change, but don’t know where to start, to step into their next, most aligned chapter with calm, confidence, and clarity. If you’re a woman navigating menopause alongside life’s bigger shifts…you’re in the right place. Most Menopause coaches give their focus to the physical symptoms of menopause. I don’t. My focus is on addressing the psychological and emotional impacts of menopause. The mental stress of menopause is too often overlooked. It’s time to change that.

Sometimes it feels like everyone says that men have it easy. If that’s so, then why are three quarters of all suicides men? We've been taught to tough it out and to go it alone, and that it’s weak to ask for help when things get on top of us – even if there is someone we can turn to. I work with the issues around the difficulty of being male in a society that creates unrealistic and often contradictory ideals of masculinity that are impossible to live up to, and stops men connecting meaningfully with themselves and others.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted. You may often describe feeling stuck, overwhelmed, misunderstood or carrying the weight of difficult past experiences that continue to affect you. You might understand why you feel the way you do, yet still find yourself repeating the same patterns in your relationships, work, or daily life. I provide a collaborative, reflective and trauma-informed therapeutic space where you can slow down, make sense of your experiences, and explore what might be keeping you stuck. I tailoring therapy to your unique needs rather than offering a one-size fits all.

Perhaps you are wanting to understand why you struggle with self-criticism, low self-worth or feel undeserving of happiness.
I specialise in incorporating nature into therapy and offering creative approaches. If you find the idea of therapy in an office too intimidating or clinical, outdoor therapy can feel less formal and take away some of the anxiety of getting started. I also offer sessions from my garden counselling room in Ravenshead and via online video session.
