The Counselling relationship offers the space to explore, learn about ourselves and most importantly the opportunity to be heard.
Hello, my name is Sarah. I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor working in the Nottingham area. It is often said that choosing to seek help and support through counselling is the hardest step. I agree, and would say it is the bravest decision, often made at the most difficult of times. I believe the Counselling room should be a place where you can discuss the issues of greatest importance to you, in confidence and without fear of judgement. Because I am passionate about the work a client and I do I offer a reduced rate for the initial consultation, believing that our working alliance is the key ingredient to success

This is often the root cause of many relationship difficulties later in life, however, it's never too late to heal.
Life comes with many challenges, however, sometimes it can feel like a never-ending battle of difficulties that are being thrown our way. Do you just want to go into hiding, yet feel lonely, lost, or numb to life? Are you feeling anxious or overwhelmed and struggling to maintain healthy relationships? Maybe you already know your issues or concerns and would like to explore these with a non-judgmental other and in a safe environment? Taking steps and reaching out to a therapist can be difficult, especially if it's your first time in therapy. It may evoke many fears and emotions, either from our past or present experiences.

Creating a unique relationship with you - professional and confidential, based on a genuine, non-judgemental, and compassionate approach.
All sorts of people seek therapy at different times in their life. In particular I have worked for a number of years with people who have experienced complexed trauma. Whether current or historic, this can lead to a sense of not feeling ourselves and impact our relationships. But whatever finds you here today, whether it be a sense of low self-esteem or depression, stress or anxiety, or issues in relationships or at work, therapy can be a valuable space. Space to support you to figure out who you are and what you’ve been through. This can allow for a more authentic connection with yourself and enhance your relationships.

Sometimes the challenges to our happiness can be complex, arising from anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship issues. Other times, it may not feel clear, but you can just sense that it might be time to talk about it. Therapy is a chance to explore what you need, and what might help you navigate through your challenges. I'm a person-centred counsellor and therapist in Nottingham and I am here to support you in empowering exactly that sense.

The relationship we build with each other will form an important part of the therapy, which is why it is necessary for us to have a telephone conversation so we can both decide if we are the right fit for each other.
A very warm welcome. You may be considering some professional support to help you with life's challenges. I know life can be tough at times for a variety of reasons, and we can find ourselves feeling out of control and under pressure, leaving us struggling and feeling lost, not knowing who to turn to for help and support. It may help you to share your thoughts and feelings, and in doing so you will be positioning yourself in the direction of potential growth, healing and change, which can help you manage your challenges and day to day life.

We might look at relationship patterns through out your life and help you gain awareness and understanding of how these play a part in your mental wellbeing.
Are you looking for a therapy that helps you gain self awareness and feel supported in understanding your relationships/mental health problems? Maybe you feel trapped by your relationships, circumstances or feel a lack of confidence to make a change? Throughout our lives we have many ups and downs, losses and big changes. Sometimes we can feel alone in our problems. You might feel unable to share some of the thoughts and feelings that you’re having with others due to feeling that you may be criticised or ridiculed. I hold a space for us to build connection and trust, whilst you gain emotional maturity and important life skills.

I use different models within my practice including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (focused on how thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect feelings and actions), Narrative Exposure Therapy (a short-term trauma-focused intervention), and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (focused on relationship patterns and ways in which people relate to themselves and others).
I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist currently working in the NHS in a Community Mental Health Team for Adults in Working Age. I love my job and I believe it is a privilege to be able to step into someone’s life and become, even for a short amount of time, part of their life story, their narrative. My aim is to ensure you feel heard, supported, and ultimately empowered. In the past, I have helped people to process past traumatic experiences that were having a major impact on their lives and to understand patterns of relating to self and others which might have left them feeling stuck, anxious, sad, guilty, and/or ashamed.

My specialism is working with young adults; students and staff in Higher Education and Education; trauma, dissociation, mental health issues; loss and grief; life-limiting illness, complex health issues; anxiety, self-esteem; relationship difficulties, life challenges and changes.
I offer short-term counselling, where we can work through more immediate and specific problems and longer-term psychotherapy for more intricate and deeper exploration. Whatever you have experienced, my aim is to help you move forward and benefit from the way you want to live your life. I understand how the impact of trauma on our lives creates a block in how we think and behave; where our past can overshadow or impede our view of our present life. With grief & loss, I recognise the parallel process of coping with our daily lives whilst managing a roller coaster of emotions and feelings that is both challenging and exhausting.

Our relationship will be one built on trust and my non-judgemental genuine regard for your well-being.
Are you feeling low, empty, worried or sad, and searching for confidential support? You may be struggling within your relationships, finding it challenging to manage a new situation, or grieving the loss of an important person in your life. You may be feeling confused and alone in your problems; unable to share with others some of the thoughts and feelings that you’re having, due to feeling that you may be criticised, ridiculed or misunderstood. Taking some time out to explore your thoughts and feelings relating to your past or present, and to develop strategies for moving your life forward could be of long-term benefit to you.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
