I have worked as a counsellor in a variety of organisations including those focused on working with trauma and abuse and those which focus on young people between 6 and 25.
I am based in Beeston, Nottingham. It easily accessible by car, bus and tram. Things can throw us off course and we can lose ourselves and need support through difficult times. It may just be that you need someone to talk to about what’s going on for you. I can help you by offering a warm and safe space where you will be fully listened to and can explore your emotional difficulties without judgement and at a pace that suits you.

At times in life we all face uncertainty, anxiety, stress and confusion, these emotions are normal. We can experience conflict/anxiety/stress. Sometimes we may know why we are feeling the way we do, other times it comes like a bolt out of the blue. It is not up to me to tell you what to do, how to feel or how to be. With 4 years of counselling and psychotherapy coupled with 20 years of supporting people I can offer you the space where you can bring yourself back to you and use this awareness to move forward with a stronger and clearer sense of self.

I work with clients who may be struggling with a wide range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma/ abuse they my have experience in childhood or adulthood, women issues including pregnancy, prenatal ,postpartum.
Asking for support can sometimes be difficult, we worry about what people are going to think about us and how they will judge us, our issues may seem too big, too painful, too embarrassing, too weird or the opposite too small , too unimportant to be taken seriously. Those worries can hold you back from seeking support and living the life you want and deserve, I know, I was once there too. Its a scary step trusting someone with your inner most thoughts and feelings but together we can look at your present experience and explore them to see if there is any connection to the past, and identify any changes that can be made.

Are you struggling with trauma, difficult memories, or perinatal challenges? EMDR therapy can help you move forward. I work with adults who feel stuck with the impact of past experiences. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, intrusive memories, or strong emotional reactions they don’t fully understand. Some are navigating challenges linked to pregnancy, birth, or early parenthood. Others appear to be coping on the outside but feel exhausted by the effort of holding everything together. Together we aim to make sense of these experiences and reduce their impact so life begins to feel more manageable again.

Domestic Abuse Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
