I am a Clinical Psychologist and supervisor who works with a range of psychological difficulties including depression, anxiety, social anxiety, addictions, trauma, relationship difficulties, OCD , body dysmorphia, and personality disorders. Sometimes clients may need a limited number of sessions for a specific difficulty, at other times longer-term work may be more appropriate. My aim is to create a safe, non-judgemental environment in which difficulties may be constructively understood, and appropriate strategies can be applied to address them.

I have a special interest in depression and anxiety disorders such as Generalised Anxiety, OCD , PTSD, Phobias, Social and Health Anxiety.
Deciding to look for therapy is a big step and it takes a lot of courage to ask for help. It can be very overwhleming to try to manage things alone and finding support can begin the process of taking back control. Talking things through in a safe, non-judgemental and collaborative environment can help to clarify what needs to change and enable you to move forward in a postive and achievable way. Please be aware I am now working exclusively online or telephone and cannot currently offer face to face sessions.

EXPLORE ~ EXPERIENCE ~ ENGAGE ~ EMPOWER How we feel can impact on our world significantly. Talking through thoughts and feelings at our own pace can be a helpful way to explore what may lie at the root of pain and difficulty. My endeavour as a PERSON CENTRED NATURE THERAPIST is to work alongside you in finding your way back to a space of balance and wellbeing within. PERSON CENTRED therapy is at the very core of how I work therapeutically and NATURE deepens and inspires that process. Combining these approaches can be a way to explore thoughts and feelings and facilitate healing.

We all go through difficulties at times and sometimes can feel out of our depth and in need of a helping hand. I believe our past experiences can shape how we feel and respond in any given situation and can keep us trapped in negative cycles and unsure of a way out. I want to help you overcome these difficulties and find a way forward to start reaching your goals. Please do not feel you have to go through this alone or that things can’t change. Let’s work together to see how we can understand things and make things better for the future. I have worked in a variety of settings including NHS, private and hospitals for over 10 years.

I am a BACP registered person-centred counsellor and counselling supervisor. I work with young people and adults - age from 11 years old and up. I aim to offer a confidential, safe space and a non-judgemental supportive relationship, hopefully helping you to explore and gain understanding of why you may feel the way you do. This sometimes can mean reviewing and working through past influences and life events and how they may be affecting you in the present. This self-exploration can be an opportunity for personal development and growth, bringing about positive changes in how we feel about ourselves and how we relate to others.

My aim is to help my clients live more fulfilling and positive lives. Many people are finding life difficult right now and are feeling anxious and depressed. I offer a safe space where they can share their problems and receive support. Clients are met with warmth, acceptance and positivity, and their challenges are listened to and properly understood. I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I tailor my approach according to my client’s individual needs. I acknowledge that early experiences can shape the way we relate to ourselves and others later in life.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
