You may look like you're coping on the outside, but inside you feel exhausted. Constantly overthinking, worrying what people think, struggling to say no, or feeling like you're never good enough despite how hard you try. Many people I work with have spent years blaming themselves, not realising these struggles often stem from deeper beliefs about self-worth shaped by past experiences and relationships. As a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and published author of Awaken Your Worth: A CBT Workbook for People Pleasing, Perfectionism, Low Self-Worth and Anxiety, I help people uncover the root cause and create lasting change.

I work with anyone aged 18+, offering both face-to-face work and online or telephone remote sessions if this is more accessible for you.
Hi, I’m Lucy. I’m a person-centred counsellor with eight years of experience working within Adult Mental Health Services prior to qualifying as a counsellor. I offer a warm, safe space to anyone who feels they need room to explore where they are in life and to work alongside you while you process any historical or current challenges or issues you may be experiencing. I provide a non-judgemental environment, where support will be offered to you as we explore together anything which may feel too overwhelming to face on your own.

I offer both face to face and online therapy
I’m a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Schema therapist with a PG Cert in Compassion Focused Therapy. Our work would focus on understanding how your early life experiences have shape the patterns you are experiencing. This may show up as feelings of anxiety such as social anxiety, OCD, health anxiety or panic, feelings of low self-esteem, shame, depression, detachment or feeling overwhelmed. Rather than only managing symptoms, Schema Therapy allows us to gently explore and heal deeper wounds. I work collaboratively and at your pace, helping you understand yourself with compassion and develop lasting change.

I offer telephone, online or in person therapy from my home based practice in Northwich, Cheshire
I work with people from all walks of life. Anyone who has spent time feeling unseen, unheard, or overwhelmed— anxiety or low mood, navigating family tensions, work pressures, or wondering if a late ADHD diagnosis might finally make sense of years of masking and exhaustion. If you want to feel understood, calmer, & more connected to who you really are beneath the coping and holding‑it‑all‑together. You’re longing for a space where you don’t have to perform or pretend, where your feelings are taken seriously, and where you can talk freely without judgement. Your goal isn’t perfection—it’s relief, clarity, and the chance to feel heard

I work with children and adults! When working with children, I like to involve the parents where possible. When working with adults, motivation is always effective in making change. I enjoy thinking with clients about realistic and long lasting goals, and I spend time working on a formulation to understand which patterns may be helping or hindering those I support.

In person in Cheshire, online or by phone — weekdays, with some flexibility.
Do you want to understand why you are the way you are — and why you feel the ways you do? Many of the people I work with have spent years feeling like they were doing life slightly wrong. Most are neurodivergent adults exhausted by having to explain themselves. Some are families trying to navigate systems that don't listen. Some just know that something hasn't fitted — without yet having a name for it. What they share is a mind that works differently, and a need for someone who starts from curiosity rather than correction.

I offer therapy sessions online and in person.
Hello lovely person on the search. It can be a daunting step, asking for help, finding a person you feel you can trust... whether this is your first brush with therapy or you have had therapy before and are now looking for a different approach or simply the next step... I welcome you both. You might be wondering why, oh why, things don't change despite your best intentions, why you still feel misunderstood. Maybe there is grief lingering, depression holding you back, relationships just not working out. Developmental trauma and Complex CPTD may be running the show for you... and that's tricky.

I offer online therapy as well as in person, and walk and talk therapy.
Do you find yourself constantly putting everyone else first, and resenting it inside? Struggling with a phobia that's taking over your life? Exhausted by complicated family dynamics, or confidence that keeps letting you down? I work with people who feel like that. I help them to figure out what's going on for them, to feel more grounded, less stuck, and to feel more like themselves again (after we've figured out who that is, sometimes!) I aim to be warm as well as direct. I won't just let you talk endlessly - I'll challenge you. In turn, you can say whatever you need to, however you need to. I'm here for it.

I am working face to face from a quiet and confidential space as well as working online.
Asking for help is not easy but making that first step can feel really positive. I am an experienced BABCP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (CBT) and work to help people (including children and young people) who are experiencing a range of issues including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, and depression, as well as other difficulties. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy focuses on the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviours, especially the way that unhelpful thoughts lead to and maintain distressing feelings and behaviours that can be a problem for some people and their families.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
