While theories and tools are helpful, the foundation of our work is built on a safe, ethical and respectful working
relationship

Welcome, you may be looking for a therapist, counsellor or coach to address a specific issue, perhaps an experience that is impacting you now, or there may be a general feeling that something is not quite right. Therapy and counselling help you discover the real you, creating awareness, acknowledging and dealing with repressed feelings and getting in touch with your innate self-worth. Which, in turn, promotes personal autonomy and the resilience to deal with life's challenges. Life coaching clears unconscious patterns and beliefs and helps you to set and action goals to move towards living a fulfilling and nourishing life.

therapy, working with people from all backgrounds, sexual and gender orientations,

types, and disabilities.
Intimate relationships can sometimes be difficult and even painful, whether we are currently in one, have recently left one, or are alone and longing to be part of a couple. I specialise in helping people with sexual and
relationship
issues as they affect both individuals and
couples
. If you are in a couple, I will provide you with a supportive, neutral environment in which it becomes possible to think and communicate in ways you may find it difficult to do on your own. When it comes to sexual issues, I will make you feel comfortable talking about them, and provide you with information, advice, and homework as needed.

In the sessions I combine a range of skills, working together with
couples
and individuals at their own peace.
Life is a journey of discovery of the self and diversity is the beauty of this world. Who a person is and what makes them happy is unique, and most of the time different from others. Being truthful to self brings resilience, but even so, life can be a continuous challenge. Maybe at the moment you feel that you are on the journey or you want to start the journey of self-discovery. Perhaps, you are facing some new or old challenges in life that you want to overcome, control, get the better of, or get over it. Or you want to make some sense of some old matters that still influence your life, or to take control of some ongoing ones.

The most important part of therapy is our
relationship
, it's imperative I can make you make sense of your issues, you feel comfortable in my presence and you believe I can help.

The client is the most important person in a therapeutic
relationship
, my job is to help them feel valued, and understood so they also believe this. My ideal client will want to work towards processing their feelings, achieving their goals and be willing to work with me to make this happen. I like to work with clients that are struggling with making sense of life. Feeling unable to move on from past experiences, having that space and time to reflect and process things can make a huge difference. I enjoy providing an environment to help my clients work through what's happening for them.

Hi I'm Paula, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Looking for a counsellor can be a daunting experience and finding the right counsellor for you is a very important decision. One of the most important parts is finding a counsellor you 'click' with. My approach to therapy is to be a calm, compassionate presence, down to earth but also practical. We often want practical tools and knowledge to help make changes or face life's ups and downs. I aim to help you learn about yourself, process how you feel, cope better and find new ways to move forward.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
