Do you feel completely overwhelmed, as if life is a constant battle? Do you question whether you are a good enough mum, and feel as though everyone else knows some secret that you don’t? You never thought being a mum would be this hard, why do you feel so upset caring for those you love? You endlessly strive to do more, to be more, but it never feels enough? You search for the answers, for some magic to make things easier, but rather than finding answers you feel more confused and overwhelmed.
Hi, I am Dr Robyn Price. As a qualified psychologist, I am experienced in working with anger, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), stress, substance misuse, and relationship difficulties. In addition, I have experience in treating mental health conditions in neurodiverse clients as well as supporting neurodiverse individuals to understand and accept their diagnosis. I run my practice using the principles of trauma-informed care. Rather than focusing on ‘what is wrong with you?’ the emphasis is on ‘what happened to you?’.
As a RELATE trained counsellor I wrote a 36 hour programme to help domestic abusers, both men and women, change their abusive behaviours. More than 1,000 men and more than 100 women have completed the programme 100% . We have improved and developed the content in line with our learning and the enormous progress in neuroscience and emotions. "Anger management" the early focuse was replaced with "emotional regulation" from 1998 when we developed an "emotional wheel" around which to work, gender inclusively. The Duluth "Power and Control" wheel was recognised in 1999 by the late Ellen Pence as being misplaced.
You want to feel better. That's obvious because you wouldn't be reading this otherwise. Maybe you are feeling a sense of loss? Or perhaps you are anxious and overwhelmed. You might have lost a person close to you, your health, your job, or you perhaps you are unsure of your place or direction in life. If you are struggling with any of these things counselling can help you start to make sense of things. Whether you feel the need to explore the past in order to make sense of it, or to concentrate on now, to improve your life and identify goals, I can help you with that
NOTE: DUE TO CONCERNS AROUND COVID-19 I OFFER CONSULTATIONS AND SESSIONS BY TELEPHONE, ZOOM AND WHATSAPP, AND OUTDOOR WALKING SESSIONS. I did not begin my formal training as a Counsellor until my late Thirties, but I bring to the role many years varied life experience and my experience of overcoming(and continuing to overcome) my own mental and emotional health challenges as well helping others. If YOU feel you are overwhelmed by circumstances or internal struggles, I will use my experience and training to help empower you to overcome situations both inner and outer that may feel impossible to overcome. You are not alone.
For the last 15 years I have worked extensively with individuals, families, couples and young people. My approach is integrative which means I draw on a number of therapeutic models to help tackle the complex needs that clients can present with. I am able to work with families, individuals and couples who are feeling ‘stuck’ and cannot see a way forward. I can be flexible in terms of appointments. I have an interest in attachments which can have a huge effect on how individuals manage their everyday lives.
Hi and welcome - I'd like to tell you a bit about me, so you can decide if I sound like the right counsellor for you. I have a gentle demeanour that, I am told, exudes calm to those around me, together with a warmth and sincerity that allows me to build meaningful relationships, providing the foundation for you to begin your healing process.
