You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure why certain emotions or body sensations keep showing up. Many people I work with feel disconnected from themselves or stuck in overwhelming patterns they can’t quite explain, often for a long period of time. I offer a calm, supportive space to explore what’s happening in your body and nervous system, helping you feel more grounded, regulated and connected again. This way of working can be particularly helpful if anxiety, stress or trauma show up physically through tension, fatigue, pain or shutdown.

Together, we work at your pace, allowing time for reflection, understanding, and self-exploration in a way that feels right for you.

I provide sessions for £35 – online, or face-to-face from my private and comfortable counselling room, with a FREE 30 minute online session to see if we click.
Counselling works best if you feel like the counsellor is the right fit for you, and you’ll probably be able to get a sense of that within a short time of talking to them. That’s why I (and many counsellors) offer a free initial chat to see if we click. I’m pleased to say that I've been the right fit for many people, and I've had the privilege of joining them in their journeys from being stuck, sometimes with painfully low self-worth, hopelessness, shame or confusion, and I've seen them rediscover their value and their voice, begin to make sense of their past, and build a new foundation to help guide them into the future.

Are you feeling stuck, unheard, unworthy? Are you living your best life, or is something holding you back? Life is challenging at times. Many things can trigger our internal critic, making us believe we are 'less than’ or are failing. We dwell in the past, worrying about mistakes, reliving painful events, remembering unhealthy relationships. It can feel impossible to see a way forward. There are many human emotions - are yours feeling balanced, or are one or two overwhelming the others?

Do you feel stuck in your life or relationships, even though you're trying your best to move forward? Maybe you find yourself overthinking, doubting your worth, or repeating the same patterns — especially after difficult or painful relationships. I work with people who struggle with low self-esteem, feel emotionally stuck, or have been affected by challenging relationships that changed how they see themselves. You might feel drained, unsure of who you are, or disconnected from your own needs. Even if things look “fine” on the outside, inside it can feel heavy, confusing, or overwhelming.

Your 20s and 30s are often framed as “the best years of your life”. It’s a time of lots of change, self-discovery and forging your own path, but it comes with so many pressures and expectations. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck or lost, and lacking purpose and direction because you don’t know who you really are or what you want out of life. Maybe you’re struggling with difficult feelings, or have noticed there are unhealthy patterns playing out in your relationships. You might want to learn how to set and maintain new boundaries, communicate more effectively, and build your self-esteem. If any of this resonates for you, I can help.

I am based in the delightful village of Burton Village in East Yorkshire, where you are welcome to come for face-to-face in-person therapy, or althernatively we can speak over Zoom, FaceTime, or via the telephone.
Maybe the journey isn't about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be all along. Our lives present unique challenges – relationship difficulties, bereavements, life transitions, & chronic symptoms - often creating feelings of frustration, anxiety, & sadness. At such times it is easy to forget that we all need assistance in addressing these challenges, especially as they can often feel overwhelming, or even impossible, to deal with. We all deserve to have support when we are struggling, & often it is specifically this support that allows change to occur.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
