You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure why certain emotions or body sensations keep showing up. Many people I work with feel disconnected from themselves or stuck in overwhelming patterns they can’t quite explain, often for a long period of time. I offer a calm, supportive space to explore what’s happening in your body and nervous system, helping you feel more grounded, regulated and connected again. This way of working can be particularly helpful if anxiety, stress or trauma show up physically through tension, fatigue, pain or shutdown.

I began providing therapeutic counselling to bring my years of experience in Palliative Care working with bereavement, grief, carer fatigue and difficult transitions to meet a wide set of needs.
We each have our own particular blend of resources and limitations, specific to us and unique as a fingerprint. That's why my therapeutic counselling doesn't provide 6-step plans, workbooks or programmes. It's open, free-flowing and exploratory. It takes the time to clear a regular safe space in which to unpack the events, relationships and emotions that you bring with you to this moment. To think about your feeling and feel your thinking. To talk, to laugh, to be tired, angry, uplifted or simply just to take the time to be. With compassion, empathy and without judgment.

You’ve spent years putting others first, being the peacemaker and people-pleaser, but inside you’re emotionally exhausted and left wondering why you feel so alone. Maybe you’re feeling invisible or like you're constantly walking on eggshells; it doesn’t have to stay this way. I work with those who feel like they put in so much more than anyone else, whether at home, with friends or at work; the dependable ones who’ve become so good at tending to others that they’ve lost touch with who they are. My clients often live their life wearing a brave face but underneath they are wondering why their life doesn’t look how they imagined.

Maybe the journey isn't about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be all along. Our lives present unique challenges – relationship difficulties, bereavements, life transitions, & chronic symptoms - often creating feelings of frustration, anxiety, & sadness. At such times it is easy to forget that we all need assistance in addressing these challenges, especially as they can often feel overwhelming, or even impossible, to deal with. We all deserve to have support when we are struggling, & often it is specifically this support that allows change to occur.

I'm an integrative relational psychotherapist and I use my experience of talking and relating to you in sessions to understand your way of being in the world, how you make sense of it and how you relate to others. Your journey is unique. Every time I've been listened to and understood I've come away feeling cared for and valued with a new sense of worth. I've learned that change is inevitable and that how I care for myself in the present affects my future.

Bereavement Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
