Counsellor, HICBT & EMDR therapist Hi im Sharon. I offer a warm non-judgemental space where you can explore and express what's troubling you. Sometimes you might become stuck and not really know why or how to change your situation. At other times you might be looking for someone to provide support because of something specific.

You’re holding it all together, but only just. Maybe you’ve had a panic attack in the toilet at work. Maybe you’ve asked ChatGPT to help untangle your brain. You feel everything so deeply. The tiniest thing tips you over. Everyone’s got an opinion about what you should do, but you don’t even know who you are anymore. Maybe you've been carrying things alone for a while and masking how hard it’s been just to get through the day. You might feel like you're "too much" and still feel "not good enough". You're not broken. You’ve been thinking about therapy. Now you’re here, wondering if anyone will really get it.

I enjoy trauma focused work as well as relational difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief and OCD.
I hope to create a safe and honest space where you can bring all parts of yourself to therapy. I try not to take myself too seriously and encourage my clients to do the same - I think humour is an important part of therapy. I want to support you towards your goals whether that’s processing trauma, being kinder to yourself or a better relationship with food

These include: anxiety and panic; depression; intrusive thoughts, obsessive compulsive disorder; adjustment to life transitions; coping with chronic illness; relationship issues; bereavement and loss; emotional regulation, self-esteem issues as well as others.
Because of my experience in the field I can assess your difficulties quickly and comprehensively. Latterly I have added expertise in treating O.C.D. and Intrusive Thoughts to my skill set but I can still work to a broad remit, able to draw on my years of experience working in the N.H.S. and in Private Practice.

Most people I work with are functioning well on the outside, but struggling internally with burnout, chronic stress, anxiety or the impact of trauma. You may be managing work and responsibilities, yet feel constantly switched on exhausted, or stuck in patterns that aren’t changing. Despite this, you continue to cope, which often means the difficulty goes unseen for longer than it should. I specialise in helping people understand and change these patterns using structured, evidence-based approaches.

Hello, I’m Dorrie. Finding a therapist that is right for you can be completely overwhelming; there is so much choice and sometimes, the therapist jargon can be a real head scratcher. As you read through my profile, have a think about if I seem like someone you could connect with, as that is such an important aspect of finding the right therapist. You may be seeking therapy because you are feeling depressed, anxious or may want to explore who you are and what that means to you. Together we will forge a relationship which will serve as a safe haven to express and explore yourself openly, without judgment.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
