I support individuals with various challenges including anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, low self-esteem, ADHD, sexual trauma, work-related difficulties, and relationship issues.
A core part of my work is supporting couples who are struggling to communicate, feeling emotionally distant, or caught in patterns that no longer serve them. I help couples slow things down, understand one another more clearly, and rebuild connection in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

I’m a male‑centred therapist with a straightforward, down‑to‑earth approach, honest, clear, and focused on real change. I offer a space where you can talk openly without pressure or judgement, and I’ll challenge you with compassion when it’s needed. Many men feel overwhelmed, shut down, angry, anxious, or stuck in old patterns. My work helps you slow down, understand what’s underneath your reactions, and build healthier ways of coping, communicating, and showing up in your life.

We all have times where we struggle – whether it be with self-esteem, neuro-divergence, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, anger or relationships.
I believe everyone deserves to be heard, supported, understood and valued. I also believe that your counselling should be as unique as you are, and so I combine different approaches to find what benefits you the most. These include CBT and Gestalt, alongside person-centred therapy. You will be accepted exactly as you are, as you are the special ingredient.

Hello, I'm Rachael. I provide a safe, secure place, where you will be able to talk about your thoughts and feelings in confidence, without the fear of being judged. I know the thought of having counselling can be daunting, but I will help you to feel comfortable and relaxed. All my clients and their issues are extremely important to me, so there is no such thing as a client or an issue being ‘unimportant,’ or a problem being too ‘minor’. The sessions are all about you...

I have a lot of experience working with clients with low self-esteem.
Are you looking for a down-to-earth and grounded form of counselling? Whether you are suffering from anxiety, depression, relationship issues or one of life's many other challenges, counselling can help to make sense of what's going on and support you in making positive changes to overcome them. Just getting things off your chest with someone who's focus is on your wellbeing can be a great support in itself. But there is also the opportunity to understand yourself better, to learn new coping strategies and explore how your pattern of thinking might be influencing your life.

In my work as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I help adults who are experiencing considerable difficulties with their thoughts and feelings about themselves and in their relationships with others - particularly with partners, family and at work. These difficulties are often associated with a variety of psychological problems and negatively affect mental health, sometimes severely. Persistent poor mental health and relationship issues are often rooted in problems with caregiving experienced as an infant, child and teenager.

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
