No matter what current life problems you are facing; whether they be emotional, physical, relationship, bereavement, trauma or employment related issues, talking it through with a qualified counselling professional can help you make sense of your situation and move forward.
Counselling can be the first step toward better self care and prioritising your own needs. It can help with understanding the choices you have in life. It can be used to work on issues such as anxiety, depression or anger. It can be helpful to look at the past and understand how it impacts the present. Re-framing this can lead to a better understanding and maybe less self blame or shame. We can carry burdens which aren't ours to carry and counselling can be a safe place to explore this. It can help for the management of difficult relationships in our lives.
There may come a time in your life when you need someone to talk to, maybe its the stress and anxiety you feel or the depression that's clouding your judgements. Maybe you have suffered a trauma and your mind-body system is being regularly triggered and overwhelmed. Our stress comes in all shapes and sizes and now this stress is now interfering in the way you live your life and adversely affecting your relationships around you. I can offer you an opportunity to talk in complete confidence where I will provide a safe, non-judgemental space. I am confident that together we can reset the way you live.
Maybe the reason you are here today is because you are experiencing feelings that you would rather not continue to carry alone. My practice is called ‘Accanto’ and I have built my service around this name, which translated means ‘next to or beside,’ and quite simply that is exactly where I will be for you. I do have an A-Z of what I cover but actually this is about YOU feeling that you can bring anything you need into the space that I offer. Counselling is initially about feeling better about all the different parts of yourself, learning to love your whole self so that you can then invite love and acceptance from others.
Welcome. I offer a compassionate, heart-centred approach to existential crises. Our search for meaning and purpose, who we really are and why we are here often comes under the guise of other problems or illness. We may experience depression, anxiety, grief about our planet, shame, deep loneliness, identity concerns, suicidal feelings or quest for soul and and a spiritual path. During therapy, I can help you develop self-compassion and inner strength, so you can face difficulties while clarity and self-knowledge grow, leaving behind what is not supporting you and moving on to live your authentic self, your truth and your dreams.
Life is overwhelming at times and it's just good to talk about what's going on. I like to work with you to find your own answers, to understand what is going on for you. We don't always know what we are thinking or feeling until we say it out loud. In order to do that you need to be able to trust who you are talking to. Nobody likes feeling judged or being told what to do!
I have lots of experience working with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, abuse and work related problems. During our first meet we will discuss and agree how we can best work together, the frequency and duration of the therapy and desired outcome, whether that's just wanting to feel better in some way, or something more targeted. This will then form a kind of contract which we will base the work on whilst reviewing it periodically. Usually sessions will be held on a weekly basis during the same time slot each week. I integrate a range of different psychotherapeutic approaches subject to your needs.

Hello, I am Caroline and my experiences as a client ,over about 4 years inspired me to become a counsellor. These positive experiences changed my life for the better and I would like to use this to help others to deal with the complexities of life. Loss and change are inevitable and we can find change particularly difficult especially when it is imposed on us. Sometimes we hide feelings of deep distress until they explode to the surface knocking us off our feet. Redundancy ,unemployment, bereavement, chronic illness, low self esteem, anger management and depression are all issues which have been highlighted during COVID.
Finding the right therapist for you is instrumental in getting the best out of therapy. The therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of exploration into your inner-self and so it must feel right for you. I am a qualified psychotherapist and am an accredited member of the BABCP. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I worked in a senior position as a mental health nurse and am a registered member of the NMC. I have had over a decade of working therapeutically in the NHS and currently run my own practice.
I understand that the decision to have counselling is a big step which for many takes courage. It can be hard to decide which therapist to choose, amongst so many qualified and experienced professionals. I am pleased to say that the majority of my work comes from personal recommendations and some of my clients will return for further sessions when a need arises. I see every person I work with as an individual and our work is tailored to reflect this. As an Integrative Therapist I am trained in Transactional Analysis, CBT, Person Centred Approach, Gestalt and Attachment Theory.
I am a fully qualified and experienced therapist, a qualified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist and a full member of BACP. I worked in the NHS for 6 years before moving to private practice about 8 years ago. I work with adults using IFS (Internal Family Systems therapy), talking therapy and creativity. I offer a safe, confidential and accepting space for you to bring the aspects of yourself, your life, relationships and/or events, past and present, that you are struggling with, that you wish to change in some way or that are getting in the way of your quality of life.
Hello, I'm Basia Louise. I'm an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist and a member of BACP with a private practice in Newton Abbot. I also volunteer with DCCP a not for profit counselling agency. I believe one of the most important aspect in counselling, is first, in choosing the person you'll do your best work with and then in the building of that theraputic relationship of trust. I offer an open, caring, safe and non judgemental space where I help people get to the root of what is causing their problems and support them in discovering ways to change their lives for the better.
I work with individuals and parents. I can help with your distressing symptoms such as depression, anxiety, loss, relationship difficulties or feeling overwhelmed. I also work with parents whose children behaviour is confusing. I understand that seeking and asking for help can feel frightening or like a weakness; I believe however it is a brave step and asking for help is a strength; it is you looking after yourself. I can help build safety and trust so you can feel comfortable. My aim is to help you clear the wood from the trees, become more confident and feel able to make changes and gain relief from your distressing symptoms.
Hello. We all need someone to talk to when life is difficult. Counselling can help you understand more about who you are, to make better sense of past or current events, your feelings and how you relate. I seek to provide a heartfelt, safe and accompanied exploration of any issues you bring. I will seek to create a trusting alliance with you and provide a place you can find and be yourself. The therapy I practice -Core Process- works with feelings, emotions, thoughts and the felt senses towards supporting you to move through any fears and anxieties and generate a greater sense of health and wellbeing into your everyday life.
Are you experiencing discomfort in your life, that could be relating to your past, present or future? I specialise in working with Emotions and Core Beliefs that are often linked to life events, such loss, illness, accidents, moving home, relationship issues, bereavements, trauma or events that you have experienced in your childhood. This can cause repeating patterns of behaviour and can also be the root of pain held within the body. Releasing emotions and negative beliefs that are no longer helpful can enhance your life, bringing about a sense of calm, peace and spaciousness; helping you to reach your full potential.
Are you experiencing a prolonged, overwhelming sense of helplessness, depression and stress, resulting in you struggling to concentrate, make decisions and complete everyday tasks? Is your confidence, motivation and self-esteem at an all-time low and you feel you've lost your sense of identity? Is your pain from the past or your anxiety about your future numbing your enjoyment of your present? I offer a confidential, empathic and non-judgemental space to feel heard, understood and emotionally supported, helping you to make sense of any destructive or self-defeating patterns which may be holding you back.
