Counsellor, MNCPS Acc.
My aim is to offer my clients a supportive and safe space for them to explore and work through their challenges. This means that I actively listen to my clients, working collaboratively together to find a new perspective and approach to their situations to enable them to make the positive steps toward their goals and in their lives. I believe that counselling isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ process and together we will work out a process that best works for you. Finding a solution to understand or accept something that has been holding you back is a positive step.

As a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist specialising in CAMHS, neurodevelopmental conditions, and eating disorders, I understand how exhausting it is to battle overwhelming emotions and self-critical thoughts every day. Mental health struggles can drain the joy from life, making even simple moments feel impossible. You deserve to feel calmer, more confident, and in control. Through CBT and evidence-based approaches, I'll help you understand the thinking patterns driving your emotions and break the cycles keeping you stuck.

You may be grieving the loss of a relationship or loved one.
I believe that we all have an innate tendency towards health and wholeness. Every so often, life events and situations can get in the way of accessing our inner resources to achieve growth and healing. Psychotherapy can be a valuable tool to firmly place you back on the path to living a full life. When we are faced with major or recurring life stressors we can be overwhelmed and seeking additional support, such as therapy, is a natural and positive step in taking care of yourself.

I specialise in trauma-informed work, bereavement, child or baby loss, an infertility.
I began my professional journey in a legal background, but my personal life experiences have truly shaped my understanding of people and the world around us. These experiences have deepened my empathy and helped me appreciate just how much we can carry beneath the surface, often silently. I retrained as a counsellor so I can reach people who need support, and help them so they’re not alone. My role is to walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, helping you to better understand yourself and your environment, whether that’s in your personal life or at work.

I am particularly interested in how we are impacted by all types of trauma, including grief.
Anxiety, depression, stress, conflict. We all hear these words but when they are your story it's much more than words, it's your life. If you invest in yourself you can learn to stop being controlled, feel you're making your own decisions and improve your relationship, career or state of mind. My clients show courage in reflecting on their lives and I've yet to work with any individual or couple who have regretted taking this step. Now we're in this extreme new way of living we may need to address issues we've previously avoided. This could be that opportunity.

You are possibly describing some symptoms of trauma, loss or even PTSD.
The brain is like a computer, everyday it is processing and tidying up the emotional information naturally. But, with major trauma or loss, the brain can block this healing process to cope, like pressing pause. Often people describe feeling stuck, numb, robotic, not really living. I use EMDR, Brainspotting and CBT to restart the natural healing process.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
