Clients are all unique but I tend to work best with clients who enjoy a mixture of creative self discovery mixed with self reflection and commitment to personal change. Insights from therapy sessions are best integrated through further thought and action so that the client sees changes. I am committed to working with clients to support them to gain hope and confidence in these changes and themselves.

Hello. Are you struggling with the impact of traumatic or difficult experiences in your life? Feeling frightened, sad, stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking about yourself or relating to others? Therapy could help you to move forward in your life. My priority in working with you would be to help you to understand how the feelings, thoughts or behaviours that you are struggling with now are linked to experiences in your life. We would then think about how you can develop new ways of being, that fit more with how you want your life to be. I have over 20 years experience of working with people struggling with various concerns.

Thank you very much for visiting my page. I am a Person Centred counsellor based in Seaford and I rent a room in the town centre. I aim to offer a safe place which is free of judgement and a positive atmosphere where we can explore whatever you may wish to bring to each session. In return I’ll also offer honesty and transparency to help build our relationship. I endeavour to work with you as an individual and not just on an individual problem. A personal favourite analogy of mine is “I will attempt to put your shoes on and walk with you but I won’t do up the laces”.

Having experienced at first hand the hugely positive impact counselling has had on my own life, I chose to train as a psychodynamic therapist to help others experience the same profound benefits. I now use an integrative approach, which has enriched my work with clients. Working with you, we will together examine and uncover often unconscious or repressed memories which in turn can drive unhelpful patterns of behaviour. We will explore the sources of your problems and aim to deal with the underlying issues, not just try to find a way to cope with them. Only by making peace with the past can you look forward to a happy future.

I practice a pluralistic approach with a focus on person-centred counselling. I provide a space where you can speak openly and safely about whatever you’re feeling without judgement. Even the most uncomfortable emotions become easier to understand when they’re explored gently and with support. I offer a calm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can make sense of those feelings and begin to see yourself with more understanding and kindness. Sessions are usually weekly and are for 50 minutes. Sometimes, it’s simply about having an hour each week that is just for you.

Why come to see a counsellor? You might feel unsettled, something is bothering you but you cannot quite pinpoint what it is. Or perhaps you know what it is you would like to deal with and change. Whatever it is, I believe that anyone will benefit from counselling, even if it is to find out you do not need it! I have worked with higher education students since the beginning of my training, and this has brought me to develop an understanding of what challenges young adults in the last few years. Privately, I work with a range of clients from various age groups and backgrounds.

I am a qualified counsellor with postgraduate training and over 25 years of experience working with children, young people and families across education, charities, community organisations, the public sector and mental health services. My counselling style is warm, collaborative and client-centred. I often describe therapy as a journey we take together: you are in the driver’s seat, while I am alongside you, helping to navigate both the road already travelled and the path ahead. I believe this shared approach empowers clients to move forward with confidence.

It's completely natural to seek support when life feels overwhelming, confusing, or painful. You may be dealing with anxiety, depression, loss, relationship difficulties, or the long-term impact of childhood trauma. Or perhaps you’re feeling stuck, unsure of your direction, or simply want to know yourself better. Whatever brings you to therapy, it can be a powerful step towards healing, growth, and self-understanding.

Our daily lives involve so many demands that it can be an effort to take a break and give some proper attention to our own wellbeing. Talking through your concerns with someone outside your world gives you the freedom to focus on yourself. I will listen with compassion and understanding and I'll get to know your experience of being you. I won’t tell you what to do or what choices to make because you know yourself better than anyone. Together we will explore what you're dealing with, identify what’s not working, and consider what changes you might want to make.

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
