Every day, many men fall foul of overwhelm, burnout, and self-sabotage. Just one bad day or poor decision can threaten your health, relationships, and work - or destroy your reputation, peace, and sanity. To maneuver in the modern world, manage your own ego, and build and protect psychological fitness and long-term performance, facing the man in the mirror is no longer optional. My job is to make this as easy as possible, and help prevent you from becoming a statistic. Having delivered over 6000 consultations for a broad range of challenges, I offer a pragmatic and results-focused approach for those willing to do the work.

You may look like you’re coping on the outside, but inside it feels exhausting trying to hold everything together. Are you feeling stuck by patterns of self-doubt, anxiety, or thoughts of past trauma? Perhaps you are feeling professionally burnt out or maybe you are trapped by compulsive tendencies and thoughts that scare you. Your mind may have developed coping strategies to deal with difficult times but it’s now now self-defeating. Strategies of staying busy, avoiding conflict, blaming or putting others first — now your approach is holding you back. Don’t worry, we can rewrite this - change is possible.

February can still feel tender. The year is underway, but emotional patterns don’t shift overnight, and the after-effects of winter can linger. This can be a time when intense feelings resurface, relationships feel strained, or old patterns become more noticeable. I’m an accredited psychological therapist with experience supporting people who feel things deeply, including those living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Therapy offers a steady, compassionate space to understand emotions, make sense of relationship dynamics, and develop kinder, more sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others as the year continues.

I don’t know if you have ever had the opportunity to share your story where someone really listens. I mean really listens, wanting to know you, your story, your ups and downs. Where nothing is off limits. Space to speak what maybe you’ve never spoken before. Sitting in the counsellee seat is not always easy and opening up to someone you do not know can be daunting. I know that taking that first step requires courage and I would love to walk with you on your journey.

To be known and understood by another person is a rare experience. Just as rare is finding someone prepared to listen to us without judgement, without making premature assumptions about us, or applying solutions before having heard us fully. Sometimes it takes someone else to draw out our courage, courage that is essential for us to honestly disclose who we are and the truth of our difficulties; courage to tackle our difficulties constructively and with resolve. Therapy is a partnership. It is about us agreeing to ‘put our heads together’ to obstinately attempt to find a new way forward and a way to psychological wellbeing.

Rational Emotive Behaviour (REBT) Counsellors
What should I expect from rational emotive behaviour therapy?
The therapist will work with the individual to recognise rigid thought patterns that sabotage goals and set them back. The objective is to identify, challenge and reframe negative thoughts and enable an individual to understand that they possess control over their emotions and their behaviour. This therapy often emphasises the use of reasoning and self-direction.

Is rational emotive behaviour therapy effective?
Rational emotive behaviour therapy is evidence-based and is highly effective. It helps a person reframe self-defeating or catastrophising thoughts thoughts and gives them tools to approach a range of circumstances they may encounter post-therapy as well. REBT can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.

When do I know if I need treatment with rational emotive behaviour therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with rigid, unreasonable thoughts that dwell in negativity, they may feel stuck. A rational emotive behaviour therapist can help a person examine and change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour. This concise and concrete therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

How long does rational emotive behaviour therapy last?
REBT therapy treatment is short-term and focused in nature. It can last for a set number of sessions, ending within a few weeks or months. Like any type of therapy, however, sessions depend on the individual, as well as the severity of their condition or problem. The individual may wish to ask the therapist about typical progress and how long they expect treatment to take.
